The Long-Awaited Mint Green Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 and a New Green PRX Chronograph

The newest additions to the ever-growing PRX collection, including the long-awaited mint green automatic.

| By Robin Nooy | 3 min read |

Summer is upon us, so we’re all hunkering for some fresh, cool, tasty treats, right? And what could be better than some mint green editions of the very popular Tissot PRX Automatic 35mm & 40mm? Well, how about a gradient dark green edition of the PRX Chronograph? And you’re in luck, as you can now have both. You see, Tissot has just quietly released three new models as the mint green dial makes a transition from the quartz model to the automatic and the new dial for the chronograph appears in a new tone of green with a new pattern and finish. Here’s what we know so far. And yes, we will try and get our hands on these to check them out in person!

Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 35mm & 40mm Mint Green

The Tissot PRX Automatic collection has been a monster hit in the watchmaking industry. It was timed perfectly, as the luxury sports segment boomed just before it launched. Tissot kept things very sensible, taking inspiration from a vintage model, dropping in a very strong automatic movement, and gradually expanding the collection bit by bit. Now available in two sizes, 35mm and 40mm, it truly has something to offer for everyone. New to the range is a Mint Green dial for the PRX Automatic, a colour that was previously reserved for the quartz version.

The new dial is finished in exactly the same style as other editions, with an embossed tapisserie pattern, applied markers and hands with Super-LumiNova and a framed date window. It’s backed by the automatic Powermatic 80 movement, which boasts a very comfortable 80 hours of power reserve. The integrated stainless steel bracelet can still be swapped out easily thanks to the quick-release system. The price is set at EUR 775 for either size.

Quick Facts – 35mm or 40mm x 10.9mm – stainless steel case, brushed & polished – polished bezel – sapphire crystal on top – see-through caseback – 100m water-resistant – mint green dial with embossed tapisserie pattern – applied indices & baton hands with Super-LumiNova – bevelled date window – Tissot Powermatic 80, automatic – 21,600vph – 80h power reserve – hours, minutes, seconds, date – integrated single-link bracelet – reference T137.407.11.091.01 (40mm) and T137.207.11.091.01 (35mm) – available immediately – EUR 775

Tissot PRX Automatic Chronograph Green

Next to the tasty Mint Green editions of the PRX Automatic, Tissot has also added a new colour to the PRX Chronograph collection. The technical specs are exactly the same, as the update is all about the dial. The colour seems new, but that can be down to the gradient finish. We’ll try and see it live at a later point in time. What is rather important to mention, though, is the fact it now has a waffle (or tapisserie, if you will) pattern, plus a framed date window, which previous editions didn’t have. Dressed in this new dark green tone, it looks quite amazing!

Beating away under the back crystal is the ETA A05.H31 we know from the previous editions. This heavily upgraded Valjoux 7753 is driven by a semi-openworked central rotor and delivers 60 hours of autonomy. Next to central hours and minutes, it indicates small seconds at 9 o’clock, chronograph hours and minutes at 6 and 3 o’clock, chronograph seconds in the centre, and the date in a framed window at 04:30. Tissot puts the new PRX Chronograph Green on the same integrated steel bracelet. The price is set at EUR 2,045.

Quick Facts – 42mm x 14.5mm – stainless steel case, brushed & polished – sapphire crystal front & back – 100m water-resistant – green gradient dial – recessed sub-dials – applied indices & hands with Super-LumiNova – ETA A05.H31 automatic (Valjoux 7753 base) – 28,800vph – 60h power reserve – central hours, minutes & seconds, chronograph, date – integrated single-link bracelet with folding clasp & interchangeability system – reference T137.427.11.091.00 – available immediately – EUR 2,045

  1. I really hope that case back is just a render and that the actual product will have text that was kerned by someone with functional eyes.

  2. If Tissot starts making PRX in 37 or 38, I’ll definitely be buying one.
