Perrelet, a member of the Festina Group (since 2004), which owns movement manufacturer Soprod, traces its roots back to 1777. Today, the brand is best known for its Turbine collection, which was first introduced in 2009. These distinctive timepieces feature an oscillating weight on the back and a series of turbine blades on the front that spin freely with wrist movement, revealing the dial beneath. The dynamic Turbine dials provide a canvas for creativity, and over the years, Perrelet has embraced experimentation with models like the Splash, Hypnotic, Royal Flush, Rainbow, Erotica, and Skull. The brand’s latest partnership with seconde/seconde pushes the whimsy even further, bringing the playful “Safety First” concept to life on the dial.

For the Turbine x seconde/seconde collaboration, Perrelet selected a 41mm grade 2 titanium case with 100m water resistance and a sleek black DLC coating. The design features a flat, polished bezel, a midsection with distinctive vertical notches, and a transparent caseback that showcases the movement within.

The predominantly black dial has white markings on the outer minute track. Perrelet’s signature embossed hour markers and Arabic numerals are coated in Super-LumiNova for enhanced low-light visibility. The central hour and minutes hands have the same treatment, ensuring excellent legibility. The traditional seconds hand has been replaced with a “Keep Hands Clear” safety sign – a familiar warning found near moving machinery and sharp-edged components.

Further reinforcing the “Safety First” concept, the watch humorously references Perrelet’s founding year, displaying “1777 days since last injury” on the dial. The topic continues on the caseback, where an inscription reads: “I sincerely love art. But it will always come second. Safety first.”

For the movement, Turbine x seconde/seconde relies on the self-winding P-331-MH calibre, a staple in the series. this movement comes with a 42-hour power reserve and operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and is designed by Perrelet and produced by Soprod. This movement’s chronometric performance is certified by the COSC and Dubois Laboratory in La Chaux de Fonds.

The watch is presented on a black rubber strap closed with a pin buckle in titanium. The Perrelet Turbine x seconde/seconde is a limited edition of 25 pieces, and the price is EUR 5,180. For more, visit perrelet.com.
