The New Junghans Meister Fein Automatic Signatur Dress Watches

Elegant and minimalist, affordable and timeless, for all the best occasions.

In 2021, Junghans celebrated its 160th anniversary, commemorating the establishment of Erhard Junghans’s watch company in Schramberg in 1861. The brand paid homage to its illustrious history by releasing the Meister Signatur Handaufzug – a collection of three-hand automatic dress timepieces seamlessly blending classical styling with vintage beauty. This series showcased Junghans’s exceptional sensibility for form and design, creating a timeless watch that gracefully bridged the past and the present.

In 2023, marking the 200th anniversary of Erhard Junghans’ birth, the brand expanded its collection by introducing the Meister Fein Automatic Edition Erhard watches. These watches, available in white and yellow gold cases, maintained the same aesthetic as the original series. Noteworthy features included specially designed elongated Roman numerals in black and the historical Junghans logo adorning the dial. The Meister Fein Automatic Signatur, a new addition to the series, further extends Junghans’s offering of elegant and picture-perfect dress watches made to captivate the wrist for years to come.

The new Meister Fein Automatic Signatur’s design is reminiscent of the limited 100-piece edition presented in 2021 in yellow gold and with gold accents. Still, with that anniversary timepiece gone and no longer in the Junghans catalogue, the stainless steel Signatur is a stylish (and discreet) watch bearing design characteristics of the past Meister models while looking very contemporary.

Staying true to the minimalist aesthetic and slim silhouette of the Meister Fein Automatic series, the two new Signatur references boast a disc-shaped 50m water-resistant case with a diameter of 39.5mm and a height of 11.0mm. The tiny knurled pull-out crown, the domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides and the screwed exhibition caseback enhance the overall elegance. The narrow bezel accentuates the simplicity of the dial, available in either warm silver or radiant ice blue. The brushed dial with silver elongated diamond-cut indices and slender silver hands create a refined look. A discreet date window positioned just left of the 3 o’clock index maintains the dial’s uniformity. The inclusion of the historical Junghans logo adds a touch of exclusivity.

These new versions are powered by the Junghans J800.1 automatic movement (base Sellita SW200-1) featuring a two-armed rotor specially designed for this collection. The rotor bearing cover is adorned with the Junghans star; other decorations include blued screws and rhodium-plated components. The movement provides a 38-hour power reserve and operates at a 4Hz frequency.

The watch is paired with a black or dark blue curved leather strap corresponding to the dial colour and secured with a stainless steel pin buckle. Priced at EUR 1,690, taxes included, both Junghans Meister Fein Automatic Signatur references are exclusively available at retailers, not online. 1. That date seems very very scared to fall off the edge of the dial.

  2. I’ll echo what Hubertje said. If I consider that my Max Bill Mega is already too large for my 18,5 cm wrist, then the size bump from 38mm to 39,5mm seems aimed at folks with a 21cm wris size at the least. If you then use a movement that is so obviously made for a 36-37mm case, your date ends up hugging the central axis in an unseemly manner.

I’ll pass up on this one, especially given the somewhat odd signature in the middle of it all. This is an ill conceived and, dare I say it, almost kitschy rendition of a form that Junghans has executed much better in the past.

  3. Anyone who finds this attractive should also check out Bravur watches. For the same money you get a more attractive (to me) minimalist design w/ gmt (sw330) in a slimmer (10.Xmm) package. And less money for non-gmt basic version.
