Since becoming World Sponsor and Official Timekeeper of the famous Italian endurance rally in 1988, Chopard has created a large family of chronographs inspired by the cars, drivers and roads that made the Mille Miglia a legendary event. Among the most challenging sections of the route is the Raticosa Pass, a mountain road that has long been regarded as a key moment in the race. Now, Chopard takes us there with the new Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph Raticosa.

Connecting Florence and Bologna through the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, the Raticosa Pass rises to 968 metres above sea level and formed part of the original Mille Miglia route between 1927 and 1957. Together with the neighbouring Futa Pass, it remains one of the few stretches that can still be driven today almost exactly as competitors experienced it during the golden years of the race. Its combination of elevation changes and tight bends earned legendary status among competitors, including Enzo Ferrari, who famously claimed that the Mille Miglia was won at Raticosa.

The new Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph Raticosa follows previous collector-oriented editions dedicated to this famous mountain pass, while introducing a more vintage-inspired design. The 40.5mm case is crafted from Lucent Steel, Chopard’s proprietary alloy that contains a high percentage of recycled material and is known for its brightness and durability. Measuring 12.88mm in thickness, the case combines polished and brushed surfaces, with a glass-box sapphire crystal. Additional details include a steering wheel image engraved on the crown, piston-style chronograph pushers and welded lugs. Turning the watch over reveals a closed titanium caseback engraved with a scene depicting a historic race car at the Raticosa Pass, surrounded by spectators. Water resistance is 50m.

The dial is finished in a matte eggshell tone and features beige Super-LumiNova-coated hour markers, black-printed scales, and a classic tri-compax layout. The central chronograph seconds hand features a red tip, and the famous Mille Miglia red arrow logo appears on the dial. Functions include central hours and minutes, a small seconds display at 3 o’clock, a 30-minute counter at 9 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, a date aperture between 4 and 5 o’clock, and a tachymeter scale around the periphery.

Powering the watch is an ETA A322-11 base automatic chronograph movement certified by the COSC as a chronometer. Operating at 28,800 vibrations/hour, the calibre is built with 37 jewels and delivers a 54-hour power reserve. The movement also features a stop-seconds function for precise time setting.

The new Chopard Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph Raticosa is worn on a brown perforated calfskin strap inspired by vintage driving gloves and racing equipment, closed with a Lucent Steel pin buckle. The Chopard Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph Raticosa joins the collection as the 2026 edition of the brand’s racing chronograph series and is priced at EUR 11,100.
