Norqain Releases 5 New Independence Models To Mark The Brand’s 5th Anniversary

Only 5 years old and yet well established...

| By Brice Goulard | 4 min read |

When looking at the brand’s presence and the already extensive collection it proposes, it is hard to believe that Norqain was founded only 5 years ago. Indeed, the brand was established in 2018 and has grown to become more than just a newcomer since then. Only 2 years after its inception, Norqain announced partnering with prominent movement maker Kenissi for the supply of manufacture movements. Now, 5 years later, the brand has a team of 50 and is present in over 200 points of sale. To celebrate this impressive growth, the brand releases 5 new Norqain Independence models, each fitted with a COSC-certified mechanical movement and a new integrated on-the-fly micro-adjustment bracelet.

All watches in this 5-year collection are part of the Independence lineup, a range of sporty models that gained its name thanks to the integration within its case of a movement developed by Kenissi. Comprising the most robust and modern watches of the brand, including the recent and powerful Independence Wild One, this new range comprises two Skeleton 42mm watches, two 40mm models with the first gradient dials of the brand, and a 40mm ladies’ piece with a mother-of-pearl dial and diamonds. All of them are mechanical, with movements supplied by Sellita, and all have received a certificate of precision from the COSC.

Additionally, Norqain is also introducing its first micro-adjustment bracelet, with a clasp that can be shortened by 9mm on the fly, without tools. This bracelet is available with these five new references and will also be rolled out in other collections with upcoming launches in 2023.

The Independence Skeleton 42mm

Following the first Independence Skeleton 42mm models launched in 2021 and 2022, Norqain now introduces two new editions, one with DLC coating and red gold plated hands, the other in a more classic steel case with blue accents on the flange and hands. On both models, the 42mm case is made of steel and is polished, satin-finished and sandblasted depending on the surfaces, and features the customisable Norqain plate on the side. The black DLC-coated edition comes with a black inner flange and red gold accents on the hands and markers, while the other edition is all about blue, yet with a red-tipped seconds hand. At the heart of these watches is an openworked, chronometer-certified version of the Sellita SW200-1, here dubbed Calibre NN08S, with an open back. The DLC model is available on a black-coated steel bracelet (EUR 4,450) or a black rubber strap (EUR 3,980), and the steel and blue edition can be worn on a steel bracelet (EUR 3,990) or a blue rubber strap (EUR 3,740).

Quick facts: 42mm x 11.80mm x 48.75mm (L2L) – steel, with optional DLC coating – screw-down crown, sapphire crystals, 100m water-resistant – calibre NN08S (Sellita SW200-1, openworked), automatic, 41h power reserve, 4Hz frequency – steel bracelet with micro-adjustment or rubber strap – non-limited editions

The Independence 40mm Green & Brown Gradient

Also part of the 5-year collection is a pair of classic 40mm Norqain Independence watches, yet with a twist. Available in green or brown, these are the first watches of the brand to be equipped with a gradient dial, which is darker on the edges. The dials, with a date window at 3 o’clock, also have the signature scratched effect. Both models are, otherwise, classic in design and features, with a 100m water-resistance, a 40mm x 12mm case (46.3mm L2L) and sapphire crystals on both sides. Powered by a COSC-certified Sellita SW200-1, these can be worn either on a steel bracelet with micro-adjustment (EUR 2,790) or a black rubber strap (EUR 2,540).

Quick facts: 40mm x 12.05mm x 46.30mm (L2L) – steel case, screw-down crown, sapphire crystals, 100m water-resistant – Calibre NN08 (Sellita SW200-1), automatic, 41h power reserve, 4Hz frequency – steel bracelet with micro-adjustment or rubber strap – non-limited editions

The Independence 40mm Mint MOP & Diamonds

Last for this 2023 Norqain Independence collection is a feminine watch, which is identical in specifications to the 2 gradient models above, yet with a twist in colours and luxury. On this 40mm steel edition, powered by a COSC-certified Sellita SW200-1, the dial is made of mint mother-of-pearl and decorated with 12 white diamonds and a date window at 3 o’clock. The bezel is also adorned with stones, with a line of 60 white diamonds. This watch is presented on an integrated on-the-fly micro-adjustment steel bracelet (EUR 5,790) or a white rubber strap (EUR 5,540).

Quick facts: 40mm x 12.05mm x 46.30mm (L2L) – steel case, screw-down crown, sapphire crystals, 100m water-resistant – Bezel set with 60 white diamonds – Calibre NN08 (Sellita SW200-1), automatic, 41h power reserve, 4Hz frequency – steel bracelet with micro-adjustment or rubber strap – non-limited edition

  1. Hire JCB to give yourself some instant marketing cache so you can overprice your watch brand while bringing to market these so-so average offerings. But, as the old saying goes, “there’s a sucker born every minute,” I guess it’s easy money for Biver, while the brand tries to infuse themselves with some instant credibility. What else is new! For this price they should be using the other movement!
