The Hublot Arsham Droplet, the Pocket Watch Reimagined

Daniel Arsham's distinctive artistic vision applied to a sculptural, modernist pocket watch.

Many may look at the pocket watch as a relic of a bygone era… But what happens if it is reimagined by Daniel Arsham, an artist known for ideating “fictional archaeology” through which he transforms everyday objects into future relics? Well, you get the Hublot Arsham Droplet, a fascinating mechanical sculpture merging the past, present and future.

“The Arsham Droplet is a true testament to the power of collaboration. By combining Hublot’s technical expertise with my own artistic vision, we have created a timepiece that transcends the traditional pocket watch, blending the past, present and future in a captivating and unexpected way”, says Daniel Arsham.

Inspired by organic, fluid forms, the intriguing Arsham Droplet plays with space, colour, shadow and light. Measuring 73.2mm (length) x 52.6 mm (width) x 22.5 mm (thickness), its sandwich construction features two droplet-shaped crystals. An organic, shiny, microblasted titanium frame holds these. The rubber bumpers protecting the assembly are in Arsham green colour and embossed with the artist’s monogram. Featuring no fewer than 17 O-ring seals, the complex architecture also features Hublot H-shape screws. It is water-resistant to 30 meters.

Revealing its inner workings in complete transparency, the Hublot Arsham Droplet is powered by the hand-wound Meca-10 calibre. With an impressive 10-day power reserve on parallel twin barrels, this in-house movement ensures that the watch can be enjoyed for extended periods without the need for frequent winding. A digital indicator allows you to check how many days of autonomy are left.

This intriguing object can be enjoyed in three different ways. The brand’s one-click interchangeability system allows you to attach either a titanium pocket watch chain or a titanium necklace to wear the watch as a pendant. Last, a sculptural glass and titanium stand allows you to convert it into an eye-catching table clock.

The Hublot Arsham Droplet pocket watch is a limited edition of 99 pieces, and its price is EUR 92,000. For more information, please visit www.hublot.com.
