Last year, Hanhart introduced the Preventor HD12 as its vision of a robust and versatile everyday watch. Positioned alongside the brand’s historically inspired pilot’s watches and chronographs, the series offered a compact case with enhanced surface hardness and a straightforward time-only display. The watch now returns in a smaller format as a limited edition presented with the British watch enthusiast known as MAD collector, with the new Hanhart MAD Preventor HD12 36mm in a more compact, wrist-friendly package.

The Hanhart MAD Preventor HD12 36mm case measures 10.5mm thick, with a 43mm lug-to-lug. The technical elements are retained, as Hanhart uses its HD12 steel, a proprietary alloy made to provide significantly greater surface hardness while maintaining corrosion resistance and the ability to be brushed and polished. The case is also treated with a transparent hard coating for additional protection, resulting in a surface hardness of up to 1,200 HV, compared to around 220 HV for conventional 316L steel. The watch is fitted with a large screw-down crown and screwed caseback. The overall design remains clean and functional, with a smooth bezel, short lugs and a balanced, compact profile. Water resistance is rated at a comfortable 150m.

The Black Forest green dial is kept simple and functional, with the historical Hanhart logo, large luminous Arabic numerals and the brand’s familiar cathedral hands. Both the hands and numerals are coated with Super-LumiNova C3 X2 GL for strong legibility in the dark.

The watch is powered by the Sellita SW200-1 (a clone of the ETA 2824) in a no-date configuration. The automatic movement operates at 28,800 vibrations/hour, has approximately 38 hours of power reserve and is regulated by Hanhart to between 0 and +8 seconds per day.

The new 36mm Hanhart MAD Preventor HD12 is available on black or brown leather straps or a hardened steel bracelet with quick-release spring bars and tool-free fine adjustment, closed with a folding clasp. The 20mm lug width has been retained, giving the watch a relatively substantial stance while also allowing for a wide choice of straps. Production is limited to 200 pieces; the price is EUR 1,140 on a strap and EUR 1,340 on a bracelet (including taxes). For more details, please consult hanhart.com.
