In just six years, H. Moser & Cie.’s fluid Streamliner luxury sports watch collection with integrated bracelets has grown exponentially. An indication of the roadmap Moser envisioned for the Streamliner, the first model of 2020 featured a sophisticated flyback chronograph. Now home to models ranging from central seconds to perpetual calendars and from small seconds to tourbillons and minute repeater tourbillons, Moser has employed stainless steel and gold cases for its Streamliner family. Marking a first for the Streamliner and for the Schaffhausen-based brand, Moser unveils its first full-ceramic watch. Welcome the new Streamliner Tourbillon Concept Ceramic, with a dark ceramic case and integrated bracelet paired with a glowing red enamel dial.

Inspired by the remarkable designs of the Streamliner Moderne period (1920s-1930s), the cushion-shaped Streamliner features fluid aerodynamic lines and an integrated bracelet with articulated, wave-shaped links, creating a single, flowing effect that not only looks good but is also very comfortable to wear.

Lightweight, hypoallergenic, and practically unalterable, Moser has selected a dark grey tone of high-tech ceramic for the new Streamliner. Like other Streamliners,  the 40mm ceramic case is hand-decorated with a circular brushed finish, while the bracelet features a vertical brushed finish, both with subtly polished bevels. With a relatively svelte profile of 11mm (12.8mm with the domed sapphire crystal), the case has a screw-down crown and lives up to its luxury sports watch credentials with a depth rating of 120 metres.

Having reviewed the Streamliner Tourbillon with Vantablack, jade and skeletonised dials, the new ceramic edition returns to classic Moser territory with a red textured fumé Grand Feu enamel dial. Similar in texture to this Endeavour Tourbillon Concept Turquoise reference, Moser adds a contemporary touch to the dial by engraving a hammered pattern on the white gold base, before receiving the consecutive layers of enamel. The result is an intense, almost incandescent lava-red dial.

Another signature Moser tradition involves its particular take on the Concept watch. While many of Moser’s Concept watches host complications, their dials are defined by maximum minimalism. With no logos, no indices and no inscriptions, the only additional feature of the new Streamliner Ceramic is the hour and minute hands with Globolight inserts. By removing extraneous distractions, attention gravitates to the large aperture at 6 o’clock, revealing the flying tourbillon.

Powered by the HMC 805 calibre with a double hairspring designed and produced in-house by Moser’s sister company, Precision Engineering AG, the matching hairsprings improve accuracy and isochronism and reduce the effect of friction commonly experienced with a single hairspring. The 18k red gold openworked bidirectional rotor delivers energy to the mainspring for a robust 3-day power reserve. Decorated with a contemporary anthracite finish on the bridges and mainplate and Moser’s signature double stripes, the movement can be admired through the sapphire window on the caseback.

The Streamliner Tourbillon Concept Ceramic retails for CHF 89,000 (excl.tax) and will be part of the permanent collection. More information at h-moser.com.
