MB&F Marks the Opening of Its New York Lounge with the LM101 EVO NYC Edition

The opening of MB&F's New York lounge gets its own watch, and it is still unmistakably an MB&F, just now dressed in warm rose gold and black.

MB&F has never been short of reasons to celebrate with a limited edition. This one, though, marks the opening of something new for the brand. After more than two decades of working with retail partners across the United States, the independent brand has finally opened its own New York lounge in Manhattan. To celebrate the occasion comes the MB&F LM101 EVO NYC Edition, a 25-piece limited edition reserved exclusively for the new New York lounge. It takes the recently launched LM101 EVO and gives it an elegant rose gold case paired with a black dial plate.

The Legacy Machine 101 first appeared back in 2014 as the most compact watch in the Legacy Machine family, putting the focus on time, power reserve, and that oversized flying balance wheel. An EVO version had been on collectors’ wish lists for years before it finally arrived in 2025 as part of MB&F’s 20th anniversary celebrations. By then, the EVO family had already grown from the LM Perpetual EVO in 2020 to the LM Split Escapement EVO and the wildly complicated LM Sequential EVO in 2022. Now, barely a year after its debut, the LM101 EVO welcomes the LM101 EVO NYC Edition, proving that this watch can wear different colours and materials with much ease.

If you know last year’s LM101 EVO, very little has changed. The 40mm case with a thickness of 16.5mm now comes in 5N+ rose gold instead of titanium, while the dial plate switches to a black PVD-treated finish with a sunray-brushed texture. Its darker backdrop makes that oversized 14mm flying balance wheel stand out even more. Add the floating time and power reserve displays under the high domed sapphire crystal, and there is no mistaking this for anything other than a Legacy Machine. Flip the watch over, and you will find the reminder that this is a special edition: “MB&F NYC” engraved on the caseback.

Like every EVO before it, the LM101 EVO NYC Edition is still the Legacy Machine you won’t have to think twice about wearing every day. The whole idea behind the EVO line was simple: take MB&F’s beautifully complicated watches and make them a bit more sturdy and practical. So, you get an 80-metre water-resistant case, a screw-down crown, an integrated black rubber strap, and the patented FlexRing shock absorber to help the movement shrug off the knocks that come with daily life. They are also the sort of features you do not usually see in a watch with a floating balance wheel, but since they are here, you can spend less time thinking about the watch and more time enjoying it on your wrist.

Achieving a 60-hour power reserve and beating at 18,000 vibrations/hour, the LM101 EVO NYC Edition is powered by the manually wound LM101 EVO calibre, which is equipped with a Straumann double hairspring that is produced by Precision Engineering AG. With the oversized suspended balance wheel on the front and the beautifully finished movement on the back, there is plenty to admire from either side. The MB&F LM101 EVO NYC Edition is available exclusively through the New York lounge, and is priced at USD 105,000.

The NYC Lounge has been designed with MB&F’s long-standing partners and welcomes collectors and enthusiasts Monday through Friday from 9 am to 6 pm and by appointment only. And just like in the brand’s M.A.D. Galleries, you not only step into the world of MB&F, but also a highly creative world of kinetic art beyond wristwatches and clocks.
