There’s nothing unusual in seeing a brand ambassador wearing one of his sponsor’s timepieces. Pretty normal. Seeing them posting a close-up photo of a watch on Instagram is already something less common. But what we’ve spotted yesterday is even less “classic style”. While it’s no surprise to see David Beckham sporting a Tudor watch, the model he posted recently on his own Instagram account is far more interesting. Unique Tudor Pelagos? Yes, please!
Former footballer David Beckham, who played for Manchester United, Real Madrid and LA Galaxy is now a fully-fledged owner of a Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise in the United States. As part of his contract for signing with LA Galaxy in 2007, Beckham had a clause inserted, allowing him to purchase an MLS Expansion franchise team for US$ 25 million. Beckham exercised the option in back in 2014, with a group of partners. After years of planning, the MLS approved the team to play in the 2020 season. On 5 September 2018, the name of the team was unveiled, Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami or Inter Miami CF for short. Inter Miami CF played their first-ever match in the MLS on Sunday 1 March 2020 against LAFC, losing 1-0.
Beckham, as most of you might know, is Tudor’s brand ambassador. During an Inter Miami CF training session, before their first match, he was spotted wearing a titanium 42mm Pelagos dive watch. This was no ordinary Pelagos though, as Beckham’s piece features the logo of Inter Miami at the bottom of the dial, in place of the usual 5 lines of text found on a regular Pelagos.
Just before the match started, Beckham posted a shot of the watch on his Instagram account, showing the watch in full detail. You can see the two pink flamingos that are part of the logo, along with the name of the club. The pink text certainly pops out against the rest of the black dial and the white hour markers.
This is not the first time Tudor has created special dials for its watches, as we have seen special pieces previously created for various military and police branches. Ed Sheeran had a batch of special dialled Tudors made to mark the end of his successful “Divide” Tour.
Nevertheless, this unique Tudor Pelagos “Inter Miami CF” is still a very cool memento for Beckham to look back on!
