California-Based Indie Brand Havid Nagan unveils the NH02 Collection
The young Los Angeles-based brand presents a more compact, more artisanal-accented series with the HN02.
Aren Bazerkanian, founder and creative director of Havid Nagan, is one of the few new independent watchmakers who have generated much interest in recent years. Coming from an unconventional background and formed by early exposure to high-end horology, Bazerkanian introduced the HN00 as an inaugural statement in 2022, with bold architectural cases, followed by the Havid Nagan HN01 Lucine. The new Havid Nagan HN02 is an evolution of the brand’s designs, a refined time-only watch.
For the HN02, the cushion-shaped case has been reworked. The HN02 is notably more compact and elegant. The dimensions have been reduced to 38mm in diameter by just 9mm in thickness, significantly enhancing wearability – both the HN00 and HN01 Lucine measured over 40mm across and close to 11mm thick. Crafted in Grade 5 titanium, with the option of a DLC-treated finish, the case features a three-part construction with a mix of brushed and polished surfaces. The most visible and welcome transformation is the lugs: abandoning the design of earlier models, the HN02 adopts a more traditional, elongated lug structure. This clearly refines the overall aesthetic and makes strap changes easier. Water resistance is 50m.
The dial, or rather the entire front display, is expressive. A multi-layered design, it is composed of many elements. The central hours-and-minutes display is executed in flinqué enamel, combining hand-engraved guilloché with translucent grand feu enamel, and features three-dimensional indices and arrowhead-shaped hands. Available in Azure or Ember gradients, the dial requires multiple high-temperature firings, and any imperfection results in failure.
Beneath this plate lies a sapphire layer with the minutes track on the periphery, with 5-minute intervals marked by polished spheres. At 6 o’clock, the subseconds takes its place. A three-part brass plate with a hammered silver finish, with distinctive shapes, circles the time subdial, with an additional small component to “support” the small seconds subdial from the bottom. The lowest visible layer reveals the movement’s front plate, galvanised in a warm gold tone and decorated with perlage. The overall result is a complex display of textures and planes, perhaps a bit over-decorative, but not at all tiresome or boring.
Powering the HN02 is the AMT6600 calibre, a movement also used in the Classic One, but here reworked in its finishing. The bridges retain their skeletonised architecture but are treated with a hammered finish and polished anglage. The mainplate, galvanised in gold, gets a soft, shimmering texture. This COSC-certified movement operates at 28,800 vibrations/hour and offers approximately 62 hours of autonomy.
The HN02 is worn on a leather strap, with redesigned lugs that allow greater flexibility. Produced in a limited run of 42 pieces, split between the Azure and Ember dial variations and available in standard titanium or DLC-treated cases, the HN02 will begin deliveries in Q3 2026. Orders are secured via a 50% deposit, with a retail price of USD 18,000.
