Baltic Takes its Hermétique to Iceland with The Rift, And Adds a 34mm Version
Created for Baltic’s partnership with Iceland cycling event The Rift, this special edition Hermétique offers full-lume dial & a new 34mm case.
Baltic is marking its role as Official Timekeeper of The Rift with a new version of its sporty, rugged Hermétique, inspired by the colours of southern Iceland’s dramatic landscape. Held at the junction of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, The Rift brings nearly 900 cyclists onto volcanic trails where terrain and weather become part of the challenge. And now they have a watch specially made for the event, available in two sizes.
The Hermétique The Rift is available in two sizes, the classic and already known 37mm, as well as a new, more compact 34mm size. Both cases are made from fully brushed 316L stainless steel and measure 10.8mm thick, including the double-domed sapphire crystal, or 8.3mm without it. The polished bezel brings a small contrast to the otherwise utilitarian finish. The integrated crown allows the watch to be worn comfortably on either the left or right wrist. The lug-to-lug measurements are 42.5mm for the 34mm version and 46mm for the 37mm watch. Water resistance is rated at 150m.
For The Rift, Baltic gives the Hermétique an organic palette inspired by volcanic black, moss green and glacial blue. The dial retains the highly luminous construction that defines the series, combining Super-LumiNova BGW9 and C3. A forged-carbon railway track contrasts with the fully lumed white central section, bordered by two polished steel blades. Applied 0.5mm-thick luminous indices appear as numerals at cardinal positions on the central section, with additional lumed dots on the minutes track. Other markers overlap the two sections, as on other Hermétique references. Polished steel syringe hands feature BGW9 as well, and the lollipop seconds hand gets a touch of lume too.
The new Hermétique The Rift is powered by the Miyota 9039 automatic movement. Operating at 28,800 vibrations/hour, it provides 42 hours of power reserve and includes a stop-seconds function for precise time setting. The watches are worn on a vulcanised FKM rubber sport strap. The new and more compact 34mm version reduces the lug width to 18mm to preserve the proportions. The 37mm model retains a 20mm lug width.
The Baltic Hermétique The Rift is limited to 400 pieces and priced at EUR 620 excluding taxes, or EUR 744 including VAT, for both 34mm and 37mm references. For more information, please visit Baltic’s website.
