Created in 2015, the Slim d’Hermès is a watch that combines a certain rigour with elegance, slenderness and the usual design touch of the brand, in particular its typography. First released in a time-only version powered by a micro-rotor movement, it is defined by its clean lines and angular, airy lugs that give the Slim an undeniable modern refinement. Subsequently, several complicated versions entered the collection, such as the perpetual calendar and the GMT. And in 2021, it was time for the movement to reveal its mechanics with the Slim d’Hermès Squelette Lune. Two vastly different editions are now being released, a classic platinum model and a modern, textured titanium version.

If we put the materials and colours aside, the base of both of these new Slim d’Hermès Squelette Lune is identical, and the same as what the 2021 inaugural model defined. The case, with its clean, sleek lines and elegantly modern lugs, is classic Slim d’Hermès and measures 39.5mm in diameter for a very reasonable 8.8mm thickness. As said, the two versions offered this year couldn’t be more different. The grey model is made of textured titanium, with a bead-blasted surface for the middle-case and caseback, combined with a polished, anthracite DLC-treated bezel. On this edition, the dial is accented in matching colours, while the movement is coated in an elegant shade of green named “Vert d’Eau” (or aqua green).

The platinum model is true to the noble nature of its case, being entirely polished, with a matching bezel. As a classic pairing, the dial and the movement are accented in blue, with contrasting silver-toned elements. This interplay of colours continues on the straps offered with each edition: grey alligator for the titanium edition, and blue alligator for the platinum model.

As its name indicates, the Slim d’Hermes Squelette Lune combines openworked watchmaking with a moon phase complication. The skeletonisation work done by Hermès and its technical partner, Vaucher Manufacture, reveals curved openings on the bridges and contrasting surfaces, with bead-blasted bridges and diamond-polished bevels – the contrast is even more striking on the blue edition. The double moon phase, located at 6 o’clock, reveals our nearest satellite in a realistic manner, while time (hours and minutes only) is indicated by slim, black gold-treated baton hands.

Under the sapphire back is a well-known movement produced by Vaucher, which shares its micro-rotor architecture with the time-only versions of the Slim d’Hermes. This Squelette Lune, however, reveals more of its technical parts, but retains the 3Hz frequency and 48h power reserve of other editions.

Available as part of the permanent collection, these two new editions of the Slim d’Hermes Squelette Lune are priced upon request, even though we estimate the titanium version at around EUR 20,000. For more details, please visit hermes.com.
