The New, More Accessible Oris Aquis Pro 1000m with Sellita Movement
A new professional-grade diver that strikes the perfect balance between the classic Aquis Date and the deep-sea Aquis Pro 4000m.

Dive watches span the spectrum: retro throwbacks that trade on romance, do-it-all desk divers that split time between meetings and marinas, and true instruments built for cold, dark water. This segmentation is very much in place at Oris, and the Aquis Pro 1000m belongs in the last category. Previously available with a manufacture Calibre 400 and a full-black attire – as tested here – the model comes back this year, benefitting from the updates seen on the classic Aquis range and now powered by a more accessible, still automatic movement.
The 2025 edition of the Oris Aquis Pro 1000m, now powered by a Sellita automatic movement, relies on a pro-grade architecture Oris developed for saturation work – a titanium case with 1,000m depth rating, an automatic helium valve, and the brand’s Rotation Safety System (RSS) – and pairs it with a simpler, field-proven movement and a sharper, high-contrast colour scheme. The result is pragmatic and purposeful: the same blackout, low-glare ergonomics; the same glove-friendly controls; the same integrated rubber strap, now with a robust, easy-to-service calibre that lowers the entry barrier. If the Aquis Date 300m is the everyday diver and the Aquis Pro 4000m the deep-sea monster, this new Aquis Pro 1000m marks the sweet spot, built to be used hard and priced to be worn.
The Aquis Pro 1000m retains the imposing yet wearable titanium case of its Calibre 400 sibling, launched in 2021 and now discontinued. At 49.5mm in diameter, it’s large, but short integrated lugs and lightweight materials make it relatively comfortable even on slimmer wrists. A black DLC coating reduces glare and adds scratch resistance, while a helium escape valve on the left flank and a double-domed sapphire crystal underscore its credentials.
The Rotation Safety System (RSS), a patented bezel-locking mechanism that ensures dive timing can’t be accidentally altered, is operated by pulling the bezel ring up to unlock, rotating it counterclockwise to the desired setting and lastly, pressing it back down to secure. It’s intuitive, mechanically pleasing, and arguably one of the safest and most satisfying bezels in the category. The ceramic insert’s new colour highlights the 0-15-minute scale for high-contrast legibility at a glance.
The dial of the new Aquis Pro 1000m continues the professional theme with a wave pattern, bold applied indices and broad sword hands filled with Super-LumiNova for superior underwater readability. A date window at 6 o’clock keeps the design balanced, while the blue gradient colour scheme adds just enough distinction without compromising the instrument-like restraint expected of a true diver.
The watch uses a Sellita automatic calibre (Oris 733, based on the SW200 architecture), a robust and serviceable movement chosen for dependability and global support. Operating at 28,800 vibrations/hour, it offers a 41-hour power reserve, with stop-seconds for precision setting and instantaneous date. While it lacks the extended autonomy of Calibre 400, the Sellita-based movement makes this model more accessible and easier to service.
The watch is worn on the brand´s signature integrated rubber strap, closed with a DLC-coated titanium folding clasp equipped with two clever systems: the Sliding Sledge micro-adjust, which allows on-the-fly sizing without removing the watch, and the Safety Anchor, a hidden hook mechanism that keeps the strap secured even if the clasp is accidentally released.
Availbility & Price
With this Sellita-powered Aquis Pro 1000m, Oris brings its flagship pro-diver experience to a broader audience. While the Calibre 400 version was priced at CHF 4,800 before its discontinuation, the new Aquis Pro (Sellita), retaining the same titanium construction, 1,000m capability, and RSS bezel system, is offered at CHF 3,400. The watch is released now as part of the permanent collection. For more details, please visit oris.ch.
