Black has a powerful attraction. It can be discreet or bold, timeless yet modern. Blacked-out watches have seen a surge in popularity over the past years and it is time for the iconic Omega Seamaster Diver 300M to opt for a captivating monochromatic black attire… and this edition is enticing for a variety of reasons. Ready to move into stealth mode? Meet the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Black Black.

We have already seen a Speedmaster entirely dressed in black, named Dark Side of the Moon… It is time for another iconic Omega to be presented in an entire black-on-black case, dial and strap combination and, most importantly ‘sans brightwork’: the Seamaster Diver 300M. Indeed, it is even blacker than the previous Ceramic-Titanium edition.

Starting with the case, the new Diver 300M Black Black is housed is an inky black highly-resistant ZrO2 ceramic case. At 43.5mm in diameter, it is fitted with a screw-down crown and helium relief valve at 10 o’clock. One of the original features of this edition is the unidirectional bezel in ceramic, with a ceramic insert that features a grained finish. Its indications are raised in positive relief and polished to enhance contrast. This finish is the result of a laser ablation process. Just like for the Nekton edition, it replaces the characteristic glossy insert of the collection and brings a sportier look. The water resistance is still rated at 30 ATM or 300 meters.

The tough-watch look is complemented by an all-black dial, with no added colour. Made of black ceramic, it features the collection’s signature wave pattern. However, it opts for the version where it is engraved in positive relief and not recessed. From the iconic waves to the minute track, wording and even the OMEGA symbol, the details have been laser-ablated from just one single piece of ceramic. The black PVD applied indexes feature anthracite lume (with blue emission) for enhanced legibility in the dark. Same goes for the skeletonized hands. The minute hand, however, features green emission in line with the dot on the diving bezel. Another important detail, there is no date indication, a choice that many will appreciate and that is probably the best option for a full black version. Overall, the legibility remains surprisingly correct for a black-out dial.

No surprises when flipping the watch over. The exhibition case back reveals the in-house calibre 8806, nicely finished with rhodium plating and Geneva waves in arabesque. 29mm in diameter, this automatic calibre is regulated by a co-axial escapement and free-sprung balance wheel with a silicon balance spring. Running at 25,200 vibrations per hour, its power reserve, coming from a single barrel, is of 55 hours when fully wound. It comes with the stringent Master Chronometer certification, which includes a resistance to magnetic fields reaching 15,000-gauss.

The caseback features a waved edge. It is fitted with the NAIAD lock system that ensures a tight seal and a perfect positioning with all inscriptions precisely as they should be.

This new Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Black Black (ref. 210.92.44.20.01.003) is worn on a black rubber strap fitted with a ceramic pin buckle. On the wrist, it feels great and comfy for a watch of this diameter, in particular thanks to the curved lugs, snug integration of the strap and the lightweight case. The price is set at CHF 8,600.
