The Zenith Defy Skyline Tourbillon Felipe Pantone Edition
Zenith and Felipe Pantone are teaming up once again to reveal the true nature of the colour spectrum.
For their latest collaboration piece, Zenith and Felipe Pantone are teaming up once again, bringing a fresh burst of colour and artistic innovation to the brand’s collection. Pantone, renowned for his electrifying kinetic art that merges dynamic colours with geometric patterns, first collaborated with Zenith in 2020, when he transformed the Le Locle-based manufacture’s façade with a specially designed tarpaulin. This partnership has since evolved, resulting in several watch projects, including the limited-edition Defy 21 in 2021, a unique piece for Only Watch 2021, and the 2022 Defy Extreme Felipe Pantone. Their latest collaboration reimagines this creative synergy with a special rendition of the Defy Skyline Tourbillon.
For this latest collaboration watch, Zenith and Felipe Pantone elected the octagonal case of the Defy Skyline Tourbillon. Crafted from brushed and polished stainless steel, the barrel-shaped 41mm case features unique engravings on each corner that spell out “FPT1” – standing for Felipe Pantone Tourbillon #1. Departing from previous editions, this model showcases a full dial (except for the tourbillon opening) that is entirely iridescent. This mesmerizing effect is achieved through a sapphire disc with a mirrored back, micro-engraved patterns, and a vignette effect. The hands and markers, distorted into lightning bolt shapes, are finished in a gradient of rainbow tones.
The dynamic one-minute tourbillon at 6 o’clock enhances the visual spectacle, with the tourbillon bridge also reimagined into a lightning bolt shape and finished in rainbow tones. The tourbillon regulates the El Primero 3630 high-frequency automatic movement, an in-house calibre with a 60-hour power reserve. The movement is visible through the caseback, featuring a star-shaped oscillating weight with a rainbow PVD finish and stripes arranged in a sunray pattern radiating from the tourbillon.
The Zenith Defy Skyline Tourbillon Felipe Pantone is presented on an interchangeable, integrated steel bracelet. It is delivered with a spare rubber strap. The watch is released in a limited edition of 100 pieces that will be available from 12 September 2024. The price is set at CHF 60,000 or EUR 65,000.
