The Union Glashütte Noramis Chronograph Sachsen Classic 2024
A limited edition that's all about celebrating classic cars.
Together with sister-brand Glashütte Original, Union Glashütte represents the German side of the Swatch Group. Positioned as an attainable luxury watchmaker, delivering excellent quality for the price, Union is steadily growing and continues to bring fresh, appealing new models to the market. The latest in line is a handsome chronograph with vintage vibe and linked to the Sachsen Classic, a classic car rally that will run from Zwickau to Leipzig to explore Saxony, homeland of Union Glashütte. This year’s edition will be backed up by this new Noramis Chronograph Sachsen Classic 2024.
Partnerships with classic car events and organisations have become a tradition for Union Glashütte, which is teaming up with the ADAC Deutschland Klassik, the Silvretta Classic or the Sachsen Classic. Last year, the brand treated us with an original mono-counter chronograph dressed in audacious brown with black and chrome elements in the centre, reminiscent of retro ventilation grilles in classic cars – discover the Noramis Chronograph Sachsen Classic 2023 here. For the 2024 edition of the annual Sachsen Classic in Saxony, a rally lasting several days and winding through picturesque German landscapes, Union Glashütte relies once again on the same technical base, yet with a fresh and probably more consensual look.
The Limited Edition Sachsen Classic 2024 is part of the Noramis collection, a range of watches that combines the appeal of the 1950s-1960s with modern technology and dimensions. While housed in a solid case measuring 42mm in diameter, 14.45mm in height and 50mm in length, the Noramis Sachsen Classic 2024 exudes a clear nostalgic feel with its thin lugs, symmetrical case and box-shaped sapphire crystal. The 100m water-resistant case is finished with satin-brushed and polished surfaces, as well as traditional mushroom-like pushers. It could be a little smaller, but the watch wears nicely nevertheless and feels solid.
The main novelty for this year’s limited edition is the dial. Once again, Union has worked on the display and colours to bring something fresh and attractive, here presented with a matte white background, light blue sub-counters and minute track, and a bold tachymeter scale in orange. The bicompax layout is classic, the 9 o’clock position of the date is more original and adds a certain charm – this position is a classic feature of all Noramis Chronographs. The chronograph hands stand out in the same orange colour while the rest of the indications are picked up in nickel-plated hardware (main hands and applied markers).
Inside the case is a movement with added value. While using the tried-and-tested Valjoux 7750 base, the Calibre UNG-27.S2 adds a long list of proprietary upgrades. Nicely finished with stripes and blued screws, it incorporates an anti-magnetic silicon balance spring and the power reserve of this cam-lever chronograph has been boosted to 65 hours.
Complete with a blue calfskin strap with racing holes and orange lining, the Union Glashütte Noramis Chronograph Limited Edition Sachsen Classic 2024 will be produced in 350 examples. It is priced at EUR 3,600, which feels justified considering the overall quality of the watch and its superior movement. For more details, please visit www.union-glashuette.com.
