An independent, family-owned Swiss brand, Titoni was founded in 1919 by Fritz Schluep in Grenchen, Switzerland and is now managed by the third generation of its founding family. Known for its robust, fully-equipped yet accessible watches, the brand impressed us about 5 years ago with the launch of the Seascoper 600, a dive watch with strong credentials, a true sense of quality and a manufacture movement certified chronometer by the COSC. Now one of the brand’s best-selling models, together with its smaller sister, the Seascoper 300, Titoni has decided to give its Seascoper 600 a slight update. Minimal touches, as the original recipe didn’t need many improvements.

Let’s first look back at the basics. The Seascoper line, as its name suggests, is Titoni’s diving collection and, without denying the interest of other ranges, what the brand does best. Solid, well-equipped (all models are chronometer certified), classically designed and fairly priced, the Seascoper range should be divided into two sub-collections. First is the more daily-oriented and more accessible 300, equipped with a Sellita SW200 in time-and-date form and a Sellita SW510 in its chronograph version. Next to it is the Seascoper 600, the top-of-the-range model with a stronger case, more water-resistance, and a proprietary manufacture movement, the calibre T10 – a 3-day automatic movement unveiled for the brand’s 100th anniversary in 2019.

The Seascoper 600, introduced in 2019, is a classic deep diver capable of withstanding 600m of depth. A fairly large watch, as you’d expect considering its specs, it measures 42mm in diameter and 14.45mm in thickness, with an overall length of just over 52mm – it reads long, but the ergonomics of the case are better than what numbers suggest. The case is nicely executed and exudes a reassuring feel of quality and weight, all feeling solid and precisely adjusted. Mostly brushed, the case has nice polished accents on the inner face of the lugs. Specs are classic but solid: sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, screw-in crown with lateral guards, screwed back, and helium escape valve in the flank at 9 o’clock.

What’s new then? Well, as explained to us by Titoni, the idea with the updated Seascoper 600 was only to change one element that wasn’t unanimously accepted, the font of the numerals on the rotating bezel. And, while changing this, the brand also launches new colour schemes. The ceramic bezel now features classic numerals, which some will appreciate, some won’t – I somehow liked the unusual font, which gave the watch a certain personality. Three versions of this new Seascoper 600 are presented: classic black with silver accents and white SLN, a bolder green edition (dial and bezel), again with silver accents and a blue (dial and bezel) model with pale gold accents on the bezel, the hands and the applied markers. This version, with beige lume, is meant to replace the previous Seascoper 600 Retro, which came with an identical colour scheme.

Under the porthole-shaped caseback is the proprietary automatic calibre T10. This large 29.30mm movement, presented in 2019, runs at 4Hz and boasts 72 hours of power reserve when fully wound, giving it a strong advantage over outsourced movements with 40-45 hours of power reserve. Its precision is also certified by the COSC, and a stop seconds mechanism allows for precise setting.

Worn on a 3-link, mostly brushed steel bracelet, the Seascoper 600 also features a practical tool-free micro-adjustment system on the clasp. You can adjust the length of the bracelet on-the-fly and on-the-wrist by pressing the brand’s logo on the clasp. Released immediately and part of the permanent collection, the updated Titoni Seascoper 600 retails for EUR 2,200 or CHF 2,150, which remains highly competitive considering the overall quality of the watch and its multiple features.
