Fitting for a brand that harnesses the horsepower of the racetrack in its watches, TAG Heuer releases a Carrera Chronograph to celebrate the Year of the Fire Horse. Representing the seventh animal sign in the Chinese zodiac, the horse will rule the roost of the 12 zodiac animals starting on 17 February 2026. The model selected to represent the Year of the Fire Horse is the 39mm Carrera Glassbox Chronograph with symbolic red and golden accents.

Introduced in 2023 to celebrate the Carrera’s 60th anniversary, the Glassbox series draws on the domed hesalite crystals featured on Jack Heuer’s early Carrera models of the 1960s and 1970s. The common denominator of the Glassbox series is a distortion-free curved sapphire crystal with a double anti-reflective treatment that flows over the dial’s edge into the case. Last year, TAG introduced another Glassbox model inspired by Carrera Dato 45 ref. 3147 from 1968 with a single chronograph counter at 3 o’clock and a date window at 9 o’clock replacing the running seconds sub-dial.

The Year of the Fire Horse adopts the lines of the aforementioned model, with its 39mm steel case, classic piston-style pushers, elongated lugs and 100m water-resistance. Honouring Chinese New Year traditions, the watch dons golden and vibrant red details.

The golden champagne-coloured dial features an internal tachymetre scale on the periphery that dips to reveal the precision seconds track with black and red markings and the rose gold-plated indices with small luminous dots at their tips. The 30-minute chronograph totaliser at 3 o’clock is fiery red, with a gradient snailed interior and golden numerals, while the date window at 9 o’clock, with its golden frame, features a red background with a fun twist: the numeral 7 is replaced by the Chinese character for horse. Also gold-plated, the central hour and minute hands have a thin strip of lume, while the central chronograph seconds hand is bright red.

Paired with a seven-row beads-of-rice bracelet designed specifically for the Carrera Glassbox series, the ergonomic steel bracelet taps into the style created by Gay Frères in the 1940s for leading watch brands of the day, including Heuer. A flat sapphire crystal on the caseback reveals the image of an embossed galloping horse and the automatic calibre TH20-07, a column-wheel chronograph with a bidirectional shield-shaped rotor, a frequency of 28,800vph and a robust power reserve of 80 hours.

A limited edition of 250 pieces, the Carrera Year of the Fire Horse Chronograph retails for EUR 8,100USD 7,850 or CNY 64,400. More information at tagheuer.com.
