TAG Heuer Adds Green And Rubber To Its Carrera Chronograph 44mm
A slight update in colours and materials to the sportiest Carrera.
Released in 2020, the Carrera Chronograph 44mm marked the revamp of the collection, which now comprises various models ranging from classic to vintage-inspired, and sporty with this larger model. Equipped with the in-house Heuer 02 movement, it will form next to the sleeker 42mm the cornerstone of the modern Carrera line. When first presented by TAG Heuer, 4 editions were at the heart of this sub-collection, which included black and blue versions with matching ceramic bezels, as well as a green version, yet with steel bezel. But it’s now been replaced by a new version, that not only brings a green ceramic bezel but also a new rubber strap, unseen yet on other models.
Even if it is the direct descendant of a watch born in 1963 – indeed, it is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year – the Carrera Chronograph 44mm is all about modernity. Surely, it boasts some classic Carrera design elements, such as the faceted lugs and the overall sharp design of its case and dial, as well as the automotive connection. The rest is not your typical vintage-inspired watch, but a contemporary model with oversized case, robust lines, modern materials and efficient in-house movement inside.
As said, green isn’t entirely new to the Carrera Chronograph 44mm. In 2020, there was already a green-toned version of this watch. However, contrary to the black and blue editions featuring a contrasting bezel in ceramic, making them objectively a bit more attractive, the green edition (ref. CBN2A10.BA0643) came with a brushed steel bezel. This model is now gone and has just been replaced by a new green version, with a few updates all around.
The case remains identical, with classic Carrera style and the large dimensions of the collection. At 44mm in diameter and 15mm in height, this is the boldest and sportiest version in the standard collection. What changes is the presence now of a ceramic bezel in green, with brushed surfaces in the centre, polished finishing on the edge and white tachymeter scale engraved. Note that the green tone is also different from the previous version, with a colder hue – and this is true for the bezel and the dial. Water-resistant to 100m, the case features sapphire crystals on both sides.
The dial, as mentioned, has a new green tone. Another small update, the “Heuer 02” and “80 hours” inscriptions at 6 o’clock have been removed, resulting in a cleaner dial. The rest is on par with the rest of the collection, with a tricompax layout, date at 6 o’clock and a base dial that features a circular brushed texture. Inside the case is the in-house, automatic calibre Heuer 02, a column-wheel chronograph with 4Hz frequency and 80h power reserve.
Finally, while this new Carrera Chronograph 44mm Green can be ordered on the traditional 3-link steel bracelet, TAG Heuer also adds the option for a newly-designed rubber strap – with a look that mimics that of a bracelet with links – closed by a folding clasp featuring micro-adjustment, just like the Aquaracer.
The new green editions of the Carrera Chronograph 44mm are now available (or will be very soon) and priced at EUR 6,200 on rubber strap, and EUR 6,400 on steel bracelet. For more details, please visit www.tagheuer.com.

Too chunky at 15mm
The thickness of 14 mm to 15 mm is common for automatic chronograph watches. It’s indeed thick, though.
Were can I buy one in south Africa?
@Inthizaar Amod 3 – the best is to consult the list of retailers on the website of TAG Heuer. Or to buy online on their website
I’ve had it for half a year now, I am in love with the watch and how it feels. Amazing piece
