The Swiss-powered monopusher chronograph from Britain gets a UAE-inspired colourway, a fish-scale dial and a rather unusual salmon leather strap.
Since its launch, British independent brand Studio Underd0g has built a strong following with colourful, playful interpretations of familiar watchmaking formats and through collaborations with brands like H. Moser & Cie for the Passion Fruit, or the more accessible Gimlet with Fears. After the brand’s inaugural 01SERIES chronographs, released in multiple versions powered by a hand-wound Seagull ST-1901 movement, came the 02SERIES field watches, equipped with the manually wound Sellita SW210-1. The 03SERIES, first teased through the Moser collaboration and later introduced with the Salm0n edition (2024), relies on a Swiss-made hand-wound monopusher chronograph.
Following Studio Underd0g’s participation in Dubai Watch Week 2025, the 03SERIES gets a new, localised interpretation: the Chan3ad, created in partnership with leading UAE luxury retailer and Dubai Watch Week organiser Ahmed Seddiqi. The collaboration takes its name and inspiration from the chan3ad, or kingfish, “one of the most famous, highly prized, and culturally significant fish choices in the United Arab Emirates and the wider Gulf region”, according to the Fish Markets UAE website. The idea translates into the watch through its colours, textures, dial details, and even its strap.
The case retains the proportions of the original 03SERIES, measuring 38.5mm in diameter, 13.6mm thick, and 44.5mm lug to lug. Made from 316L stainless steel, it uses a three-part construction with a screwed display caseback and signed crown. The rectangular chronograph pusher for all functions is at 2 o’clock. A sapphire crystal protects the dial, and the case is water-resistant to 50m.
The Chan3ad’s two-layer dial may look much like the Salm0n’s, but it has distinctive features, like Eastern Arabic numerals on the tachymeter scale and subdials. The upper layer is lighter and has a blue-grey dégradé finish intended to evoke the scales of the Chan3ad, while the lower layer reveals a pale pink tone inspired by its flesh (salmon has a much darker one). The layout remains, with the oversized 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, running seconds at 9, with central hours, minutes, and chronograph seconds. Note the yellow-tipped dedicated chronograph hands; the brand says the colour choice references the lemon traditionally served with the fish.
The Chan3ad is powered by a custom version of the manually wound, cam-operated Sellita SW510-M monopusher chronograph. This movement, based on the Valjoux 7750, operates at 28,800 vibrations/hour and provides a 63-hour power reserve. For Studio Underd0g, the movement receives a bespoke ruthenium anthracite-finished bridge and Côte de Genève.
The Studio Underd0g 03SERIES Chan3ad is worn on a strap made from black salmon sourced from Iceland. The 20/16mm strap uses quick-release spring bars and is closed with a stainless steel pin buckle. A Milanese mesh bracelet is also included.
The watch is limited to 100 pieces. Each watch is assembled at Studio Underd0g’s D0ghouse facility in Great Britain. The Chan3ad will be available exclusively through Ahmed Seddiqi boutiques from September 17, 2026. The price is AED 9,600 (about EUR 2,300 at today’s rate). For more, visit underd0g.com.
