Over the past decade, the Presage collection has become the most expressive showcase for Seiko’s artisanal side. Beyond the sporty world of Prospex, Presage has steadily explored traditional Japanese crafts, integrating enamel, Urushi lacquer, Shippo enamel and Arita porcelain into accessible mechanical watches.

In 2026, Seiko celebrates its 145th anniversary, and following the four-piece anniversary collection released at the start of the year, the brand presents two new Presage Classic Series limited editions. New references reflect the brand’s long-standing ability to merge traditional artistry and industrial watchmaking, yet they do so through very different aesthetics. One focuses on the depth and complexity of Arita porcelain, the other on the restrained elegance of silk textures and compact proportions.

Seiko Presage Classic Series Craftsmanship Arita Porcelain Dial HCC007

The highlight of the anniversary pair is undoubtedly the new Arita porcelain edition HCC007. While Presage has used porcelain before, this is the first time Seiko introduces a deep cobalt blue glaze inspired by the historical “Seiko Blue” tone developed in the 1960s, during the brand’s game-changing years.

The dial is produced under the supervision of master craftsman Hiroyuki Hashiguchi, with execution entrusted to Toshiaki Kawaguchi and his team in Arita. As with earlier porcelain Presage models, the material is specially reinforced to be much harder than traditional porcelain. The challenge here, however, was colour and translucency. Seiko worked extensively on the glaze to keep the radiating relief pattern visible beneath the surface, to offer tonal shifts as light moves across the dial. Applied hour markers and hands provide excellent contrast against the blue background.

The watch is presented in a newly designed case, measuring 39.6mm in diameter and 12.8mm thick. More refined and slightly slimmer, it is topped with a dual-curved sapphire crystal. The overall appearance is one of a contemporary watch, but with the classical elegance expected from Presage. Water resistance is 30m. The new Presage Classic Craftsmanship Series Arita Porcelain “Seiko Blue” HCC007 is powered by the automatic calibre 6R51, offering a 72-hour power reserve while operating at 21,600 vibrations/hour. The watch is a limited edition of 1,500 pieces, and the price is EUR 1,800.

Quick facts: 39.6mm x 12.8mm stainless steel case with super-hard coating – dual-curved sapphire crystal with inner AR coating, sapphire caseback – 30m water-resistant – cobalt blue Arita porcelain dial with radiating pattern – calibre 6R51, Seiko in-house automatic, 24 jewels, 21,600vph, 72h power reserve – leather strap from LWG-certified tannery, folding clasp – ref. HCC007 – limited to 1,500 pieces

Seiko Presage Classic Series 36mm HCC004

The second anniversary model adopts a more restrained appearance. The dial features a delicate, woven-like texture with a pristine white tone referencing shironeri, the pure white produced during silk refining. A particularly nice detail is the use of blue hands and markers inspired by Seiko Blue.

The compact 36mm case gives it a distinctly classical character, while the softly curved surfaces and decorated bezel accentuate the elegant, understated design of the Presage Classic Series. Like its porcelain sibling, the watch is powered by the 6R51 automatic calibre with a three-day power reserve, making it practical despite its dressier positioning. The Presage Classic Series Ref. HCC004 is a limited edition of 2,500 pieces, and the price is EUR 1,050.

Quick facts: 36mm x 12.5mm stainless steel case with super-hard coating – dual-curved sapphire crystal with inner AR coating, sapphire caseback – 100m water-resistant – white silk-textured dial with blue hands and markers – calibre 6R51, Seiko in-house automatic, 24 jewels, 21,600vph, 72h power reserve – leather strap from LWG-certified tannery, folding clasp – ref. HCC004 – limited to 2,500 pieces

  1. When I go to the Seiko website to attempt to figure out how or even when (Sept?) to order the HCC007, it is impossible. There’s nothing on the website that permits more than a few images of the piece. Which leads dear reader to wonder, yet again, why do the publications flog these ‘new releases’ when they are, essentially, unobtanium for the regular watch-purchasing, watch-loving community that is the bedrock for the high & mighty self-styled ‘horologists?’…… all the best,

  2. @SnakePlisskin – as you can see in the article, at the end, the watches will be available from June or July 2026. You have to be a bit patient… And no, these won’t be “unobtainable” at all.
