Fratello Teams Up with RZE and Brings the Resolute Pro “Contour” Tool Watch

Our Dutch fellows from Fratello bring their definition of an outdoor-ready tool watch.

Made to be used and abused… This could be the definition of an outdoor, adventure-ready car (a Defender, for instance, the old one), or for that matter, of a proper tool watch. Recently, the team at Fratello, our fellow Dutch watch editors, asked the question of what makes a great tool watch? For them, it’s a watch that inspires you to get out there and make the most of the time you spend with it on your wrist (as said, used and abused). Their answer to that question takes shape today, with the new RZE × Fratello Resolute Pro Contour limited edition.

A “watch inspired by the spirit of adventure and the trusty analogue tools that get you there,” to quote them, this new timepiece has been developed together with RZE, a young brand fully dedicated to creating robust watches for adventurers. Following a tradition for all models, this new Resolute Pro “Contour” is made of grade 2 titanium with RZE’s unique UltraHEX coating, making this usually rather scratch-sensitive material resistant up to ~1200Hv hardness. The watch itself, angular and built like an instrument, features all necessary functions – screw-down back (with specific engravings), sapphire crystal with AR coating, 100m water-resistant and partially protected crown. It’s all very purposeful, and that’s what you need in a real tool watch.

Complete with drilled lugs, and fully brushed, the watch sits flush on the wrist with great proportions – 40mm diameter, 10.6mm thickness, and 46mm length. A no-nonsense watch for the great outdoors, the RZE × Fratello Resolute Pro Contour is powered by an equally no-frills movement, the premium Miyota 90s5 automatic movement, with 4Hz frequency, 42h power reserve and a no-date display with hacking seconds.

The dial is what makes this edition special… Crafted from sheets of forged carbon infused with steel powder, it creates a pattern similar to the contour lines on old topographic maps. Every single dial has a unique pattern, which will look right in place next to a Damascus-forged knife and a compass. Applied markers and hands, brushed and luminescent, complete this overall cool package.

Considering its outdoor vocation, the Fratello team went for a titanium H-link bracelet, which tapers from 20mm at the quick-release end-links to 16mm at the clasp. It is equipped with a stainless steel, solid foldover clasp on-the-fly micro-adjust at the press of a button. Links can be removed with a small flat-head screwdriver. To complete the kit, every watch will be delivered with RZE’s Blackcomb EDC carry pouch.

The RZE × Fratello Resolute Pro “Contour” Limited Edition will be available for pre-order for one week, beginning March 14th at 16:00 CET and ending on March 21st at 16:00 CET. It will cost EUR 679 (excluding VAT). This watch is limited by time, not by number. Both parties will not produce this model again once the pre-order window closes. Delivery will begin within four months of the pre-order window closing. For more details and orders, check shop.fratello.com.
