Baselworld 2017 – RJ Romain Jerome Unveils Limited Editions with Hand-Engraved Cases

RJ Romain Jerome unveils two limited editions boasting hand-engraved cases – an invitation to travel across the brand’s universe whilst exploring artistic territories. Here are the RJ Romain Jerome Steampunk Black Auto Engraved & Skylab 48 Red Engraved.

RJ Romain Jerome introduces two limited editions (both limited to 9 pieces) transporting you to a blend of the invented worlds of Jules Verne and Georges Méliès through some voyages extraodinaires or a trip to the moon.

These exclusive series are based on two RJ Romain Jerome emblematic models, the Skylab 48 and the Steampunk auto. Each bezel is painstakingly hand-engraved using techniques such as drypoint, chiseling, soft engraving… the contrast between the super finely engraved pink gold bezels and the black cases enhances the unique character of both timepieces.

The RJ-Romain Jerome Skylab has a very technical feel, revealing its inner workings in full transparency. The skeleton movement is characterized by straight vertical and horizontal bridges and the symmetric positioning of the open-worked barrel at 12 o’clock and the balance wheel at 6 o’clock. The movement is enhanced with a black chrome finish. Running at 28’800 vibration per hour, it is made for Romain Jerome by La-Joux-Perret. It is framed by a PVD steel case boasting a pink gold bezel engraved with a décor of stars and planet.

The name says it all for the Steampunk – it blends anachronistic technological features, steam-powered machinery into a bold, polarizing design embodying the creative driving force of the brand. The rough finish of the dial with oversized Roman numerals is enhanced by the cool ‘propeller’ small seconds at 9 o’clock or the pistons at 2, 4, 8 and 10 o’clock. The pink gold bezel is engraved with Zeppelins, steam boats, steam locomotives and submarines. The case back is personalized with a steampunk engraving.

The RJ Romain Jerome Steampunk Black Auto Engraved is worn on a black hornback leather strap fit with a folding buckle.
