Back to Basics with the New 47mm Panerai Luminor Tre Giorni PAM01628
Its huge, rooted in the brand´s heritage and in essence, it’s everything Panerai fans love.
Panerai starts the new year by releasing a watch that perfectly encapsulates the brand´s philosophy and style – staying true to its storied watchmaking heritage blended with modern construction. The latest Luminor reference delivers everything loyal Panerai enthusiasts anticipate while incorporating subtle design updates to set it apart from previous models. True to the brand’s identity, the watch is huge, minimalistic and highly functional, and not at all devout of a certain elegance. The Tre Giorni PAM01628 has style…
The massive 47mm x 15.1mm stainless steel case of the new Panerai Luminor Tre Giorni PAM01628 is 100m water-resistant; it features the collection’s signature crown-locking system with box-shaped sapphire crystal protecting the dial. The case, including the bezel, is predominantly hand-finished to create a matte, patinated effect that mimics natural wear for a rugged aesthetic and reduces glare – no worries, it remains quite discreet and not gimmicky as we’ve in previous references. Select elements are brushed for added contrast.
The grainy grey dial showcases a classic sandwich construction, with Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6, and 9, while bar indices mark the other hours. These elements are cut-outs on the upper plate, revealing a lower layer filled with beige Super-LumiNova. A subtle gradient darkens the dial toward its edge, transitioning to nearly black, while the lume-coated, gold-coloured hour and minute hands complete the unmistakable classic Panerai look.
The Panerai Luminor Tre Giorni PAM01628 is driven by the in-house hand-wound calibre P.3000, renowned for its distinctive construction. Visible through the transparent caseback, large bridges dominate the movement, covering most components and secured with prominent screws. The calibre, measuring an impressive 37.2mm in diameter, features an equally substantial 11.7mm balance wheel. The P.3000 operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations/hour and offers a three-day power reserve, achieved through two series-connected spring barrels. The movement comprises 161 components, including 21 jewels, and is decorated in the classic Panerai way… Minimalistic and technical-looking.
The robust overall appearance of the new Luminor Tre Giorni PAM01628 is complemented by the dark brown calf-leather strap with a vintage effect and featuring contrasting beige stitching. It is closed with a pin buckle crafted from brushed steel. A black rubber strap is included with the purchase. The watch is available to buy, and the price is EUR 10,700. For more, visit panerai.com.

Nice but why get one over a 372 which can be had for 40% less and offer a choice of plexi or sapphire. Is the case construction the same?
