Oris Sharpens the ProPilot Calibre 111
The hand-wound, 10-day-power-reserve watch returns with a redesigned dial and updated ergonomics in the refreshed ProPilot collection.
Oris is busy refining its core collections, and last year it updated the ProPilot Date series. Now, the Hölstein-based brand applies the same touches to the ProPilot Calibre 111, one of its distinctive models. First introduced in the mid-2010s, this watch stands apart from the more accessible ProPilot Date series with its manually wound manufacture movement. The new version is a refresh that aligns the design with the collection’s latest developments.
The stainless steel case of the 2026 ProPilot Calibre 111 measures 43mm in diameter (1mm less compared with the earlier ProPilot Calibre 111), 13.2mm thick, and 51mm lug-to-lug. The bezel, with angled fluting inspired by the turbines, remains a characteristic element, alongside the oversized screw-down crown. The domed sapphire crystal features an anti-reflective coating on the inside. A screwed stainless steel caseback with a sapphire window reveals the movement. Water resistance remains 100m.
The new dial is available in black or pine green, with a mix of finishes, introduced with the redesigned ProPilot Date. A vertically brushed central surface contrasts with a more organic texture around the perimeter and through parts of the main dial. The dial gets a more nuanced appearance than the earlier versions, without distracting from its functional displays.
The applied Arabic numerals and luminous hands are very legible. The layout features central hours and minutes, a small seconds subdial at 9 o’clock, and a date display now at 6, moving from the 9 o’clock position on the 2017 Big Crown ProPilot Calibre 111; the prominent non-linear power reserve indicator remains at 3, designed to make the final days of running time easier to assess.
The underlying Oris Calibre 111 is the brand’s manually wound movement, introduced in 2015, a year after the launch of the Calibre 110. The movement was developed with the École Technique Le Locle after a decade of work, marked the brand’s 110th anniversary and return to in-house movement production after 35 years. It came with a remarkable 10-day power reserve from a single oversized mainspring and a non-linear scale display. The Calibre 111 refined the 110’s construction to improve precision and stability; its 1.8-metre-long mainspring supplies energy for ten days, after which the movement cuts off power delivery as torque falls.
The updated ProPilot Calibre 111 is worn on a stainless steel bracelet, closed with the brand’s folding LIFT clasp, or on a dark brown Cordovan leather strap. The strap comes with a seamless-fit adjustment system. The price is CHF 6,100 on the bracelet or CHF 5,900 on the leather strap. Registration with MyOris extends the warranty to five years.
