The Oris Aquis Date is the brand’s best-selling dive watch. Launched in 2011, revised last year, the Aquis Date was designed as a muscular, water-resistant tool watch with contemporary looks. In line with the brand’s conservation projects, a second Aquis Oris has been selected for the second chapter of the Billion Oyster Project. Issued as a limited edition of 2,000 pieces with an aqua green mother-of-pearl dial, proceeds from the sale of the New York Harbor Limited Edition II will support the ambitious project to restore one billion oysters to clean up the waters of New York’s harbour.

The 41.5mm edition of 2022 in green, and the 43.5mm edition of 2025 in aqua

Aquaculture teacher Pete Malinowski and Murray Fisher founded the Billion Oyster Project in 2014. Championed by Oris in 2022 with the release of a 41.5mm Aquis Date, to date, the project has restored more than 150 million oysters across 17 reef sites thanks to 15,000 volunteers and 30,000 students. Capable of filtering 50 gallons of water per day, oysters are keystone species, and their reefs provide habitats for hundreds of marine species. The payoff is that the waters are cleaner now than they have been in 110 years, attracting humpback whales and hundreds of other species.

The brand continues its support of the project with a 43.5mm Aquis Date. Treated to a subtle design upgrade in 2024, the largest 43.5mm Aquis Date with a reduced case thickness of 13.1mm comes with the redesigned and more refined bracelet with broader brushed central links, a tapering profile and a quick-adjust clasp system. The matte sandblasted steel unidirectional rotating bezel has a detailed 15-minute scale and Arabic numerals/markers in relief for a three-dimensional effect (visually and tactilely), and a luminescent pip at noon. As a bona fide diving companion resistant to depths of 300 metres, the caseback is screwed, the crown is screwed-in and flanked by tapered guards.

The aqua green dial is crafted in opalescent mother-of-pearl, insinuating the changing moods of the harbour’s green waters. Fitted with shield-shaped hour markers and Alpha hands, legibility is enhanced with Super-LumiNova. The date window at 6 o’clock has a white background.

A domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating protects the dial while the sealed caseback features a realistic relief engraving of three oysters, the inscription “New York Harbor Limited Edition” and the limited edition number 0001/2000. Powered by Oris calibre 733, based on an automatic Sellita SW 200-1, the movement beats at 4Hz, delivers a 41-hour power reserve and features hacking seconds.

The Oris New York Harbor Limited Edition II is paired with a stainless steel bracelet and comes with an extra aqua-green rubber strap with a steel folding clasp. It is available now and retails for CHF 2,550. More information at oris.ch.
