Even though a relatively young brand, Norqain has made a name for itself in the field of sports watches, as well as a strong commitment to Swiss production. Norqain’s CEO Ben Küffer has been able to count on some great friends since he started his brand in 2018, one of them being industry veteran Jean-Claude Biver, whose valuable input resulted in the Wild One – a high-performance, ultra-robust sports watch – as well as Grand Slam tennis champion Stan Wawrinka. Today, Norqain pays tribute to the three-time tennis champ, who also happens to be one of the brand’s business partners, with the launch of the Wild One “Stan the Man” Limited Edition.

With 16 titles, including three Grand Slams and an Olympic Gold, Swiss tennis player Stan Wawrinka has been recruited as a Norqain ambassador to support the brand’s global expansion in 2024. A fan of the brand, Stan Wawrinka, wore his Wild One Turquoise Skeleton on court during the US Open 2023. And now, it’s time for the man to have his own Norqain Wild One watch, a limited run of 85 watches, in honour of Stan’s birth year, 1985.

Like other models from the Wild One range, this “Stan the Man” edition features a complex case architecture, composed of no fewer than 25 different parts. It includes a sandblasted titanium container (which is home to the movement), a NORTEQ (a proprietary, light and robust carbon fibre-based material) protective cage with two separate top and bottom parts connected and secured with custom-made screws, and a yellow-green rubber shock absorber, inspired by the colour of a tennis ball, in the middle. Talking about tennis balls, the Norqain plaque on the left side is infused with tennis ball fibres. The watch is made for action, with a 200m water-resistance, a screw-down crown and a focus on shock absorption. It measures 42mm in diameter with a L2L measured at 49.40mm.

Another signature feature of the Wild One Stan the Man, like the rest of the collection, is to come with an openworked movement that is fully visible through the dial. Here, the plates and bridges are matte black and paired with rhodium-plated hands and applied markers. Multiple yellow-green accents are found on the Super-LumiNova inserts (hands and indices) as well as the tracks around the dial and on the angled inner flange. The yellow-green rubber shock absorber even circles the dial, creating a contrasting ring.

Under a sapphire crystal back decorated with an image of Stan Wawrinka, along with the dates of his three Grand Slam victories (the 2014 Australian Open, the 2015 French Open, and the 2016 US Open), is the automatic, openworked calibre NB08S based on the Sellita SW200 architecture. This COSC-certified chronometer engine runs at 4Hz and stores 41h of power reserve.

Worn on a black and yellow-green rubber strap with a tennis net pattern and delivered in a spherical watch box in polished chrome alongside a tennis ball, individually signed by Stan himself, the Norqain Wild One Stan the Man Limited Edition will be produced in 85 pieces. It will be priced at EUR 6,700, CHF 5,950 or USD 6,990. For more details, please visit norqain.com.
