Norqain‘s relationship with ice hockey is quite natural. From the very beginning, part of the brand’s image has been shaped by the sport through the involvement of former NHL All-Star and Stanley Cup winner Mark Streit, Norqain co-founder. What started with close ties to players and the NHLPA is now taking a decisive step forward, with Norqain becoming the first Official Luxury Watch partner of the National Hockey League, and the new Adventure Chrono 41mm NHL Limited Edition is the first result of the partnership, and likely not the last.

As part of the deal, Norqain now holds full international licensing rights across the United States, Canada and Europe to use the NHL’s identity and that of all 32 teams. This chronograph could be the opening chapter in a broader family of hockey-inspired watches, with team-specific editions to follow. For now, the focus remains on the sport itself.

The base is the familiar Adventure Chrono, housed in a 41mm stainless steel case with a fully brushed finish. It is a watch designed for action: a screw-down crown, a unidirectional rotating bezel and 100m of water resistance. A new detail appears on the crown, accented with a red lining.

The dial is where the NHL narrative becomes evident. Finished in white with a “scratched ice” texture, it references a rink after a game. At 9 o’clock, the small seconds counter is designed as a hockey face-off circle, featuring a rotating disc shaped like crossed sticks. The chronograph counters at 12 and 6 o’clock are coloured in black for contrast, with the 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock marked by a light grey NHL logo. At 3 o’clock, a day and date aperture “supports” the Norqain logo. Surrounding the dial is a pulsometer scale, punctuated at the 200 mark by a “TIMEOUT” inscription in red, more storytelling than function, but very much in the spirit of the sport. The hands and applied indices are treated with Super-LumiNova.

The Adventure Chrono 41mm NHL is powered by the Norqain calibre N17, a mechanical automatic chronograph movement by Sellita (SW500) with a balance frequency of 28,800vph, a power reserve of 62 hours. The movement with its personalised Norqain rotor can be viewed through the sapphire caseback. The crystal reads “Limited Edition – One of 1917,” a reference to the NHL’s founding year.

The watch is offered on a black rubber strap incorporating material from an actual hockey puck, but is also available on a stainless steel bracelet. The presentation box features a white insert styled like an ice rink and contains an authentic NHL puck.

Limited to 1,917 pieces, the Adventure Chrono 41mm NHL Limited Edition is available through Norqain boutiques, authorised retailers and the brand’s online platform. The watch is priced at EUR 4,750 on the black rubber strap, or EUR 4,950 on the bracelet.

  1. For what this watch is and how it’s been constructed, along with an ordinary off the shelf movement being used, the outrageous price causes a loss of interest. This brand’s name ought to be “Engulf and Devour” as it only serves its board to make money to build multiple palaces for itself and its owners while screwing customers.
