Swiss Watchmaker Norqain has long been affiliated with Ice Hockey. In particular, board member Mark Streit, 2017 Stanley Cup winner and Swiss hockey legend, and Roman Josi, four-time NHL All-Star player and captain of the Nashville Predators, have been actively involved in the company’s development from day one – the brand was launched in 2018. In 2020, Norqain announced it had entered into a partnership with the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) that is now extended until 2024. On the occasion of the NHL All-Star weekend in Florida, the brand presents a new limited edition watch to honour the association, the Norqain Wild One NHLPA Limited Edition based on its new flagship collection.

Norqain Wild One NHLPA Limited Edition

Released in a limited run of 300 pieces, the Wild One NHLPA is housed in a marbled black NORTEQ case. This light, resistant carbon fibre composite is a proprietary material based on a polymer matrix containing 60% of bio-based material. It also allows for a mass-dyed carbon fibre composite. 42mm in diameter, the case is made of 25 parts including a NORTEQ protection cage, rubber shock absorbers and a titanium container for the movement. Water-resistance is rated at 200m.

The main novelty for this Hockey-themed watch is the new “scratched ice” white dial, which is emblazoned with the NHLPA logo. The diamond-cut hands and applied indexes are black-plated and feature white X1 Super-LumiNova for optimal readability in all conditions. The texture is discreet from a distance, but rather detailed when checked closely.

Turning the watch over, the exhibition caseback also features the NHLPA logo together with the caption one of 300. It also allows you to discover the automatic calibre NN20/1 manufactured with Kenissi. This 26mm movement runs at a 4Hz frequency and boasts 70 hours of power reserve when fully wound. Its precision is chronometer-certified by the COSC.

There are two strap options for this Norqain Wild One NHLPA Limited Edition, with a choice of black or white mesh-like rubber strap. During the NLH All-Star weekend, each of the 44 NHLPA players received a personalised version of this watch. 256 watches are therefore available for purchase. The price is set at CHF 5,180. 1. No, Norqain has not long been affiliated with Ice Hockey! It’s just marketing BS to sell their very pricey and uninspired watches.

Don’t these watch execs know that we can see through their lies and stories?

  2. “Manufacture” Calibre NN20/1… which is the same as the MT5402 in the Tudor BB58, possibly even without a silicon balance spring. Then again, cheating is rampant in the watch industry and this is simply the latest entry. At least these folks have the decency to disclose it’s made by Kenissi so it’s only half a lie and the general public probably won’t care either way.
