The refined proportions of the Orion meet an 18kt gold case and deep black dial in a particularly restrained interpretation of this dress watch.
The Orion is one of Nomos Glashütte’s most formal series, with the restrained proportions and curved case design that have defined the collection since its introduction. The new Orion Gold Neomatik “New Black” pairs an 18k yellow gold case with a deep black dial and fine golden details. The combination relies on the contrast between the warm case and dark dial to reinforce the watch’s formal character.
The fully polished gold case measures 36.4mm in diameter and 8.5mm thick, with a 45mm lug-to-lug – as always, the lugs are long on the Orion. A domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the inside protects the dial, and the sapphire crystal caseback provides a view of the movement. Water resistance is 30m.
The black dial is galvanised and keeps the clean, open layout associated with Orion, with fine golden hour indices and slender gold hands. The small seconds at 6 o’clock do not interrupt the dial much, keeping the emphasis on the hours and minutes.
The watch is powered by the DUW 3001, Nomos Glashütte’s slim automatic calibre, developed and produced in-house. At 3.2mm thick, the movement is central to the Orion’s 8.5mm overall profile. The movement operates at 21,600 vibrations/hour, with a power reserve of up to 43 hours. The calibre features the Nomos swing system, the brand’s regulating system developed to support the movement’s precision.
