The Alligator Strap

A beautiful mechanical watch can’t live without the perfect high-end strap. And because we are real watch lovers ourselves, we know what that means. Handmade, Italian, comfortable, perfect size, and a fitting colour.

MONOCHROME’s alligator straps are made by hand by a family workshop in Northern Italy and crafted from the most supple alligator leather we have ever had on our wrist. And believe us – we’ve tried a few. And we’ve added our personal (discreet) touch to them, with a light blue leather lining.

Our alligator leather straps are available in two different lengths, or at a small premium, custom sized. We have all the regular width sizes in stock as well. And a bunch of classic colours that will look good on both an IWC Portuguese, a JLC Reverso, a Speedmaster or even a nice little Lange.

The Smooth Calfskin Strap

A calfskin gives your watch a slightly casual and modern touch: smooth and cool. But it should never feel cheap. That is why we have gone for this very supple and comfortable leather, made by a small atelier in Northern Italy. 

These MONOCHROME smooth calfskin straps work exceptionally well with vintage and minimalistic watches, as they will age beautifully. The Grained Calfskin Strap

The perfect choice for a vintage dress watch: our grained calfskin strap combines slightly informal modernity with a touch of luxury touch and the beauty of textured leather. We’ve travelled the world and tried out dozens of different materials before we finally chose this particular calfskin. It is smooth and comfortable, while at the same time offering the best quality.

The Ostrich Leather Strap

Ostrich leather is not widely available and has some very specific qualities. We like to wear them with equally stand-out watches, like an elegant vintage watch or a modestly sized dress watch. It gives every watch a very classy look and is very subtle.

We found the right producers for the MONOCHROME Ostrich straps in a rather unexpected place: Belgium. All straps are handmade and available in two sizes.

The Leather Watch Roll

Every watch lover knows she/he can’t live without it: the perfect place to store and protect her/his priceless possessions when travelling. We hunted down the watch rolls we wanted. 

We finally found a producer in a different Mediterranean country: Spain. In the heart of the Southern province of Andalusia, in a village called Ubrique, to be precise. This tiny dot on the map has only 16,000 inhabitants, most of them working in the leather industry. 

The MONOCHROME leather watch rolls are handmade and available in black & grey, dark brown & orange and brown & beige. Our leather watch rolls can safely protect up to six watches, lined with smooth microfibre keeping your watches both safe and clean. They really are the perfect companion for those moments when you actually are not wearing your watches or travelling.

The Canvas Watch Roll

For more casual trips – or a more fly-under-the-radar approach – we’ve also added a canvas watch roll to the collection. Don’t be fooled by the price, this is a real luxury accessory. It is made of 12oz. waxed canvas, with beautiful leather detailing. And also some cool, slightly vintage colours!

But when it comes to canvas watch rolls, the real magic happens on the inside. That is why we chose to give it a microfibre suede lining. We specifically wanted to have this soft lining, because waxed canvas is a hard material that could scratch watches (in particular, gold cases and Plexi crystals on vintage timepieces).

The MONOCHROME Canvas Watch Rolls can store up to 5 watches, or the 5th pocket could also be used to store some tools and/or extra straps.

The Surprise Gift – The Perlon Strap

The perfect, nice-to-have or nice-to-offer accessory for a very accessible price!

Lots of watch brands offer nylon or canvas straps nowadays, but not all of them are comfortable. That is why we have been testing our perlon straps on our own watches for over six months. Whether on a vintage Omega pre-Seamaster, a “pre-loved” Daniel Roth, a Chopard LUC Sport 2000 or a brand new Nomos, these straps are cool, comfortable and informal.

Quality is key when it comes to nylon straps. That’s why we use straps that are ultrasonically welded to secure the material and prevent fraying. They are finished with a polished vintage-style tang buckle made from period-correct nickel-plated brass. The overall length is 265mm / 10.5″ and fits most wrist sizes. You can select the desired width below (18mm, 20mm, 22mm).

We recommend a Perlon strap for your vacation or weekend watch, for those moments where you don’t want anything more than relaxation on your mind and a good drink in your hand. And there are 9 colours available, so you should be able to find the desired one.
