The Mido Multifort 8 One Crown, A Streamlined and Accessible Integrated-Style Watch
The little brother to last year’s Multifort 8 Two Crowns, now in a streamlined, urban-chic and accessible package.
Following up on the Multifort 8 Two Crowns from early 2025, Mido is bringing a simpler yet still geometric and integrated design with the Mido Multifort 8 One Crown. As you might have guessed, a single crown at 3 o’clock replaces the twin crowns at 2 and 4 o’clock, which also removes the internal rotating bezel, but the overall style that made its big brother a hit last year remains intact. The case size is shared with the Two Crowns variant, which is compact and very wearable, and although less complex, the new dial design with its rich colour is very striking.
Mido was founded in 1918 by Georges Schaeren, and the Multifort debuted in the 1930s, which was the first model to have an automatic movement. It also featured shock and water resistance and was anti-magnetic, but today’s Multifort collection is vast and varied, with models like the titanium TV Big Date, Chronometer1 Racer and Mechanical Limited Edition with a rare sketched dial. These watches help keep Mido’s portfolio interesting and unique within the affordable luxury segment, and the latest Multifort 8 One Crown is no exception.
The stainless steel case is 40mm in diameter with a lug-to-lug of only 44.86mm, thanks to the integrated design. The single crown screws down, and water resistance is rated at 100 metres, so it’s up for a day at the beach before a night on the town. A sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on both sides protects the dial, surrounded by a faceted octagonal bezel. This shape carries over to the crown and exhibition case back, and although we’ve seen this concept before with legends like the Royal Oak, the aesthetic here is distinctive and again follows the formula of its Two Crowns brother. The integrated bracelet has a satin finish and quick-release system (for a tool-free change to a rubber strap) and secures with a two-button folding clasp.
The standout feature is the bright “intense” blue dial with horizontal lines (from the Two Crowns dial) and a framed date window at 3 o’clock. Slightly oversized applied indices and the tri-faceted hour and minute hands have Super-LumiNova, and the minute/seconds track sits on an outer flange. The dial is clean and classy without fuss, and really complements the bold, angular aesthetic of the case. A black dial variant will also be available with a steel bracelet or black rubber strap.
Powering the Multifort 8 One Crown is the Mido automatic Calibre 80 (Powermatic 80), based on the ETA C07.611. It has 25 jewels, a beat rate of 21,600vph (3Hz) and a sizable power reserve of 80 hours. Functions include central hours, minutes, hacking seconds and date. Seen from the exhibition case back, the signed rotor is decorated with Côtes de Genève.
The Mido Multifort 8 One Crown retails for CHF 840 (incl. VAT), which is quite a deal for such a unique integrated sports watch with an ETA Powermatic 80. For more information, please visit Mido’s website.
