Richard Mille RM 69 Erotic Tourbillon

Erotic watches… A long standing tradition in watchmaking. We have showed you a few, like for instance this one. Usually, this kind of timepieces tends to show automatons depicting an erotic scene (like a couple in action…). Richard Mille is now coming with his own vision of such a watch, however with the typical modern, technical and extremely complicated style of the manufacture. No suggestive scene here but something more likely to enliven your evenings… Here is the Richard Mille RM 69 Erotic Tourbillon that brings sensuality with words only.

As said, erotic watches are part and parcel of the watchmaking tradition. For decades, watchmakers played with the theme of libertinism by mechanically recreating suggestive scenes. However, due to conservative moral, religious and political customs, they tend to be difficult objects to wear on a daily basis (and frankly, these are watches that you have to be fully assumed). That’s why many of them depicted these scenes on the case back or behind a cover (in the case of pocket watches). For all these reasons, they tend to be rare objects. By using its typical modern and technical design, Richard Mille renew the concept of erotic watches with a new iteration, the RM 69 Erotic Tourbillon, that will make it easier to wear such an erotic-themed item – but of course, without losing the roots of the manufacture, meaning high-end finish and complicated movement.

The idea is simple (the execution very less much though…). Instead of sexual scenery, the Richard Mille RM 69 Erotic Tourbillon suggests erotism with words. Designed in collaboration with Audemars Piguet Renaud & Papi (APRP), the ‘Oracle‘ complication uses three grade 5 titanium engraved rollers like Tibetan prayer wheels, displaying a random phrase – like ‘I want to caress you madly’ or ‘I need to explore your lips’ – that will bring some ideas to occupy your evenings. Activated on request by pressing a button at 10, these 3 rollers will turn on themselves and randomly stop. To enhance its legibility, the movement features a mechanism allowing the hands to break free from the gear train – by activating the pusher at 8, the hands will move to the lower side of the dial and thus liberating the view on the rollers. Once released, the hands of the Richard Mille RM 69 Erotic Tourbillon automatically return to their rightful position in time.

The movement of the RM 69 Erotic Tourbillon comprises 505 parts, with bridges and plates machined from grade 5 titanium and all parts finished by hand with circular-graining, beveling, mirror-finishing and hand-polished sinks. This haute horlogerie treatment is combined with Richard Mille usual execution, meaning PVD-treated, micro-blasted and satin-finished surfaces, for a technical result mixing traditions and modernity. The movement itself is extremely compact as located in the lower half of the watch (the barrel, the escapement, the tourbillon and the gear train are all comprised in this small volume) – the upper half is only dedicated to the ‘Oracle‘ complication only. This compactness is possible because of the dual construction that enables the tourbillon and barrel to be aligned on the same axis. The single barrel offers a comfortable 69h power reserve.

The strap is integrated to the case and is made of black rubber.
