Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons is the leading watch and jewellery retailer in the United Arab Emirates and the name behind the biennial Dubai Watch Week, now a major event on the industry’s calendar. Marking its 75th anniversary this year, several partner brands have celebrated the event with special editions. Having enjoyed the support of Ahmed Seddiqi for more than two decades, MB&F presents two exceptional limited editions to fete the retailer’s anniversary: seven LM Perpetual EVO pieces and five LM Perpetual Baguette Diamonds, both with blue accents.

In 2015, MB&F released the Legacy Machine Perpetual, the brand’s most complicated timepiece ever developed with independent watchmaker Stephen McDonnell. Turning conventional perpetual calendars upside down and inside out, the McDonnell reinvented the QP complication from scratch with a default 28-day month and an ingenious “mechanical processor” with a series of superimposed discs that add the extra days required by each individual month. Don’t miss Brice’s coverage to understand the deliriously complex mechanics yet user-friendly operations of this marvel.

LM Perpetual Baguette Diamonds

Another facet of the LM Perpetual is the extraordinary viewing pleasure of its fully integrated movement, revealed on top of the movement plate. For Seddiqi’s 75th anniversary, the LM Perpetual in stainless steel is set, for the first time, with a flourish of 48 baguette-cut diamonds in the bezel. The dial plate features an attractive turquoise colour to highlight the mechanical spectacle and the majestic balance wheel commanding centre stage. To enhance legibility, the suspended sub-dials, which display the time, day of the week, month, and date, are black with blued hands. Limited to five pieces, the watch is fitted with a hand-stitched white alligator strap and a steel folding clasp. Price is upon request.

LM Perpetual Evo

In 2020, MB&F decided to beef up its LM Perpetual to handle the knocks and blows of real life. Known as the LM Perpetual EVO, the evolution led to a redesigned case with the brand’s patented Flex Ring, a proprietary annular dampener to protect the perpetual calendar movement. Other design considerations included the sportier hollowed-out lugs, the more recessed oblong pushers, and, to safeguard the 80m water-resistance, the presence of a screw-down crown and a rubber strap.

No less spectacular than its more classical counterpart, the LM Perpetual EVO for Seddiqi is housed in a lightweight yet resilient titanium case and features the same turquoise blue colour for the sub-dials, contrasting with the anthracite dial plate. The watch is paired with a sporty white rubber strap and a titanium folding buckle. A limited edition of seven pieces, the price is upon request.
