The New Sellita-Powered Oris Big Crown Pointer Date with Colourful Dials
A contemporary version of the fundamental Oris model welcomes the new season with some bold dial options.

Alongside the green and terracotta Big Crown Pointer Date Calibre 403 housed in a 40mm case with a sleek, polished bezel instead of the classic coin-edge design, Oris also introduces a trio of new, simpler versions of its emblematic watch. And while these lack the high-performance Calibre 403 movement and replace it with a Sellita engine, these Oris Big Crown Pointer Date models make up for it with vibrant dial colours and new bracelets at a more accessible price point.
Like the Calibre 403 variant, the new Oris Big Crown Pointer Date watches feature a 40mm stainless steel case with a 47.5mm lug-to-lug measurement and 50m water resistance. The case is 12mm thick, with an oversized screw-in crown and a double-domed sapphire crystal with AR coating to protect the dial. Around the back, a screwed-down display caseback – this time with mineral glass instead of sapphire – reveals the movement within. Importantly, the signature fluted bezel of most models in the collection, which added vintage charm, has been replaced by a smooth bezel for a contemporary look.
Available in yellow, blue or lilac, the dials retain the familiar Pointer Date layout: a peripheral date track, a minute track with Super-LumiNova triangles at five-minute intervals, and raised Arabic numerals also in Super-LumiNova. The small seconds subdial sits at 6 o’clock, while the central hour and minute hands are pencil-shaped and luminescent. The signature date hand features an arrow-shaped tip, colour-matched to the dial in yellow, blue, or purple.
Powering these models is the Oris 754, an automatic movement based on the Sellita SW 200-1, complete with Oris’ signature red oscillating weight. It operates at 28,800 vibrations/hour and offers a 41-hour power reserve. While not as advanced as the in-house Calibre 403, it remains a reliable and well-proven movement.
This new Big Crown Pointer Date Sellita series is offered with a multi-piece stainless steel metal bracelet with brushed and polished links, closed with a folding clasp. Available in April 2025, these new watches are priced at CHF 2,000. For more, visit oris.ch.
