A New Moon Rises at Glashütte Original with its Serenade Luna Collection for Women
A new moon phase complication developed for the Serenade family in petite feminine cases.
The Lady Serenade and PanoMatic Luna are Glashütte Original’s two mechanical watch collections for women. While the PanoMatic Luna is essentially a slightly smaller version of the men’s model, the Serenade collection was conceived as a ladies’ watch from the start. Available with time-and-date functions, the Serenade takes on a new complication in the form of a moon phase indicator powered by a new in-house movement. Making its debut, GO unveils four iterations of the new Serenade Luna.
In a departure from earlier Serenade models in 36mm cases, the new Serenade Luna has a dainty 32.5mm diameter coupled with a slim height of 8.9mm. Available in 18k red gold and stainless steel, the personality of the watches varies quite significantly. With its attractive golden-green dial and diamond-set bezel, the red-gold model is the most glamorous option.
The steel models, with white mother-of-pearl or blue sunray dials, can be combined with a dressy alligator leather strap or a sportier steel bracelet and can be ordered with or without diamonds in the bezel. The models with diamond-set bezels feature a rose-cut diamond in the blossom-shaped crown; the non-set models have a moonstone cabochon instead.
The star attraction is the moon phase indicator set into the dial in a cut-out at 6 o’clock and framed by a crescent-shaped structure with stars. Crafted in white mother-of-pearl, the moon appears in a recessed disc accompanied by a blue area to represent the night sky. The night sky is created with inlays of dark Tahitian mother-of-pearl (red gold model) or dark blue lacquer applied beneath the mother-of-pearl and decorated with stars. Whether you prefer the sunray-brushed blue and golden-green dials or the milky-white mother-of-pearl versions, all four models feature diamond indices and the signature counterweight with its infinity symbol on the seconds hand.
The new automatic calibre 35 with integrated moon phases inside the Serenade Luna was developed to fit inside the small case and is just 3.8mm thick. Other considerations in its development were its suitability for everyday use and user-friendliness. The spring barrel was allotted considerable space to ensure the robust 60-hour power reserve and the oscillating system was redesigned for the small format. Fitted with a silicon hairspring, the movement is resistant to magnetic fields and temperature fluctuations. Visible through the transparent caseback, the rotor assembly is made of solid red gold and is decorated with a fine seashell pattern guilloché, revealing the signature three-quarter plate and other traditional Glashütte Original finishings.
The new Serenade Luna collection is now available at GO boutiques and partners worldwide. The red gold model retails for EUR 23,900 (incl. tax). Depending on several factors—whether the bezel is set with diamonds, the type of dial, and the choice of a strap or bracelet—the price of the steel models oscillates between EUR 16,100 – 10,900.
