Fresh Dial Colours for the HYT T1 Series

HYT’s more compact, closed-dial version of its unique fluidic time display returns with chocolate, green and purple dials for the autumn.

| By Rebecca Doulton | 2 min read |

HYT erupted on the indie watchmaking scene in 2012 with its original proposal of displaying time with fluids. Although there have been clepsydras since antiquity, HYT’s neon fluids pumped around the dial were unique. Despite the bumps encountered on HYT’s journey, the brand listened closely to consumers and traced a new roadmap with the more compact and closed-dial HYT T1 Series earlier this year. Sticking to the new game plan, HYT introduces three new autumnal dial colours for its T1 models.

The 45mm diameter and 17.2mm thickness might not sound compact, but the T1 is the smallest watch in HYT’s lineup. Crafted in titanium and DLC titanium or rose gold and DLC titanium, the octagonal scalloped case with hollowed flanks and the screw-down crown at 2 o’clock has no lugs, creating a more compressed, ergonomic and integrated look.

Available with chocolate, green or purple dials, these are finished with a vertical satin finish that plays with the light. Protected by a domed sapphire crystal, the dial features the brand’s signature fluidic time display with a glass tube aligned with the hours indicated on the flange. Depending on the dial, the colour of the fluid changes; the chocolate and green dials have red fluid, while the purple has black fluid. Advancing smoothly, the fluid returns to its initial position via a retrograde motion every 12 hours. The minutes are transferred on the dial beneath the tube and indicated by a large central hand with Super-LumiNova, and there is a power reserve indicator at 2 o’clock.

The caseback reveals the manual-winding calibre HYT 501-CM developed with Eric Coudray in 2019. The bellows driving the immiscible fluids, which were originally visible on the dial, and the complex cam can be appreciated. Beating at 4Hz, the barrel can store up to 72 hours when fully wound.

The tapering rubber strap matching the dial colour can be exchanged thanks to an easy push button on the caseback that releases the strap with a click. A complimentary black rubber strap is included in the package.

The latest trilogy will be limited in time, not quantity, and available from September 2024 to April 2025, just before Watches & Wonders. The T1 Titanium Green and Titanium Purple retail for CHF 50,000 (excl. tax); the T1 Gold Titanium Chocolate retails for CHF 66,000 (excl. tax). For more information, please visit hytwatches.com.
