Four New Blancpain Villeret References with Sunburst Green Dials

The rich green hue of the Vallée de Joux fir trees graces the new Villeret collection timepieces in red gold for a contrasting and beautiful look.

The Villeret Collection of Blancpain comprises the brand’s most classic and elegant timepieces. They offer a wide range of functions, from the basic time-only models to more complex complications like the minute repeater, perpetual calendar, dual-time zone, chronograph, and more. Recognizable by their distinctive double-stepped case design, these watches are a testament to aesthetic excellence. They masterfully blend exquisite dial decorations with refined details, ensuring visual appeal and readability despite often displaying multiple indications.

In late 2020, Blancpain unveiled the Extraplate Boutique Edition, a time and date watch that introduced a striking new dial colour to the brand’s line-up: a vivid green, then complemented by a yellow gold case. To mark the leap year of 2024, Blancpain presented a rose gold-cased version of the Villeret Perpetual Calendar, featuring the same green tone sunray-brushed dial, signalling that soon this fir-tree green would continue to feature across other models in the Villeret Collection, with and without complications. We didn’t have to wait long, and this August, Blancpain revealed four new additions to the Villeret family: the Extraplate, Quantième Complet, Quantième Phases de Lune, and Tourbillon Carrousel models; here’s what we know.

Villeret Extraplate 6651

The Extraplate is a refined time-and-date model featuring hallmark Roman numerals, central hour, minute, and second hands, and a date window at 3 o’clock. It is housed in a characteristic 40mm red gold case with short, slender lugs. The case measures just 8.7mm thick and is fitted with sapphire crystals on both the front and back, the latter revealing the in-house automatic calibre 1151. This movement boasts a silicone hairspring and twin series-coupled barrels, offering a remarkable 100-hour power reserve consistent with the earlier 6651 references.

The dial colour is the news – while previous red-gold Extraplate versions have predominantly featured white and silver-toned dials, along with a pair in blue and a striking black with a lacquered sunburst pattern, the new red-gold Villeret Extraplate adds a vivid green to the series. This standout piece is paired with a brown leather strap and is priced at CHF 20,300.

Villeret Quantième Complet 6654A

Apart from its new presentation- a red-gold case with a sunburst-brushed green dial and red-gold accents – the latest Villeret Quantième Complet maintains the classic features of the previous 6654 references. The double-stepped case measures 40mm in diameter and 10.94mm in thickness, featuring a sapphire crystal to protect the dial and an exhibition caseback. The green dial, complemented by contrasting red-gold Roman numerals and elaborate central hands for the hours, minutes, seconds, and date (indicated on a recessed track), also includes apertures for the day and month above the centre and a moon phase display below, creating a harmonious and balanced design that ensures legibility.

This complete calendar watch is powered by the finely decorated automatic in-house calibre 6654, which offers a 72-hour power reserve. It also features a safety mechanism that prevents any damage to the movement when setting the calendar functions. Adjustments can be made easily through patented under-lug correctors, eliminating the need for a pusher tool. The new Villeret Quantième Complet is priced at CHF 26,600.

Villeret Tourbillon Carrousel 2322

The new Villeret Tourbillon Carrousel is an exceptional timepiece that takes the green dial and red gold case aesthetic to a remarkable technical level, featuring two rotating escapements: a tourbillon at 12 o’clock and a carrousel at 6 o’clock. Blancpain first introduced this innovative concept in 2013, where the tourbillon utilizes one power source to move both the balance wheel and rotate the cage, while the carrousel uses two power sources – one for the escapement and another to regulate the rotation of the cage, with both regulators linked by a differential gear train.

These two historical complications designed to counteract the effects of gravity on the balance spring are showcased on the rich green dial, which also features a date subdial at 3 o’clock. The central hour and minute hands, along with the Roman numerals, are crafted from red gold, mirroring the elegance of the references mentioned above. The red-gold case measures 44.6mm in diameter and 11.94mm in thickness, with the crown positioned at 4 o’clock. The display caseback offers a generous view of the lavishly decorated in-house manually wound calibre 2322, which comprises 379 parts and boasts a 168-hour power reserve, with an indicator located on the movement side.

Beyond the avant-garde, limited-edition platinum Tourbillon Carrousel model and the one introduced in 2013, this new red-gold with a green dial is the only other version of the Tourbillon Carrousel available; the price is CHF 329,900.

Villeret Quantième Phases de Lune 6126

The new Quantième Phases de Lune is a ladies’ timepiece that combines Blancpain’s calendar movement expertise with an exquisite design. Housed in a compact 33.2mm red gold case, it stands out with its striking green dial – the only model in the current 6126 series to feature any colour but white. The watch’s refined appearance is further elevated by a diamond-set bezel and eight diamond indices on the dial, creating an extraordinary look that perfectly balances technical sophistication and luxury. The watch is powered by the automatic calibre 913QL.P, which incorporates the same safety features as the larger complete calendar calibre 6654. However, its settings are adjusted via a caseband corrector located at 10 o’clock for the date and at 8 o’clock for the moon phase. The calibre 913QL.P provides a 40-hour power reserve, operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, and features a silicone balance spring for enhanced performance. The new Villeret Quantième Phases de Lune is worn on a green leather strap, fastened with a folding clasp. Priced at CHF 23,800, this timepiece joins the permanent collection.
