The Delbana Rotonda Collection Expands With New Colours

New colours enliven the dials of Delbana’s retro-inspired Rotonda collection.

Founded in 1931 by Goliardo Della Balda, Delbana is a Swiss family-run brand renowned for its affordable, well-made watches. Following its merger with Delma Watch Ltd. in 2001, the brand relocated to Lengnau where it celebrated its 90th-anniversary last year with the release of the Rotonda, a straightforward time-and-date model with a strong 1950s retro vibe. Today, the Rotonda collection expands with the introduction of six new models with dial colours inspired by the seasons.

The name of the collection, Rotonda, which is taken from the Latin word rotunda used to describe buildings with a circular ground plan, refers to the distinctive patterned area in the centre of the dial picked out in a contrasting colour. Using a similar layout to the Recordmaster models inspired by vinyl records of the 1950s, the Rotonda also shares the same 40mm polished stainless steel case with a reasonable height of 11.5mm. However, there are also two new Rotonda models with a polished yellow gold PVD coating. Fitted with a scratch-resistant domed sapphire crystal and a transparent caseback, the watches are water-resistant to 50 metres.

The focal point of the Rotonda is the central guilloché pattern stamped on the dial, now available in a host of colours: black, blue, green, ivory and copper. With the contrast of the colourful centre and the silver chapter ring, these two-tone dials enhance legibility and a welcome touch of colour. The peripheral minute/seconds track with vintage green dots at every hour hosts the applied and polished Arabic numerals at 12, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 o’clock and arrow-shaped markers for odd numbers. The cathedral-style hour and minute hands are filled with mint green luminescent material to match the green hour dots, while the seconds are indicated by a vibrant red-coated central second hand. There is also a date window with a white background at 3 o’clock, and the brand logo at noon replicates the original font used on early Delbana watches.

The six new Rotonda models are fitted with fine handmade Italian leather straps and stainless steel or yellow gold PVD pin buckles.

All Delbana Rotonda models are powered by the Sellita SW 200-1 automatic movement with a 38-hour power reserve. The reliable movement comes with a customised Delbana rotor, performs at a rate of 28,800vph and offers hours, minutes, seconds and date functions.

In keeping with the brand’s commitment to affordable luxury, the stainless steel models of the Delbana Rotonda collection retail for CHF 770 / EUR 850; the yellow gold PVD for CHF 830 / EUR 900. For more information, please visit delbana.ch.
