The Bell & Ross BR 05 Chrono Grey Steel & Gold
A stylish chronograph series gets a boost with gold elements for a more luxurious appeal.
In response to the rising trend of integrated bracelet stainless steel sports watches, Bell & Ross introduced the BR05 series in 2019. The collection ingeniously blended the iconic square-case design inspired by fighter jet instrument panels with a nod to the sports watches of the 1970s. The year 2020 witnessed an evolution in the BR05 collection with the addition of a chronograph. In the next years, the expansion continued, with multiple dial colours and case materials to diversify the BR05 Chrono line. Among these releases was a limited edition timepiece, the BR 05 Chrono Edición Limitada, boasting a distinctive gold and steel case and bracelet. Launched in 2022, it quickly sold out, attesting to its relevance and appeal. The new BR05 Chrono Grey Steel & Gold has now earned a place in the permanent collection.
The BR 05 Chrono Grey Steel & Gold features a 42mm-wide steel case with satin finishes and polished surfaces, showcasing its distinctive character with the elegant continuous line formed by the profile of the winding crown and chronograph pushers. The bezel, adorned with decorative screws in steel, and the central links of the integrated bracelet are crafted from rose gold, serving as defining style accents for the watch.
With a sunray finish, the grey ruthenium dial maintains the two-tone aesthetic, incorporating square-shaped-rounded-corners subdials at 3 and 9 o’clock. These subdials are marked by gold-coloured and graduated outlines, serving as seconds and minutes tracks. The 9 o’clock subdial displays running seconds, while the 3 o’clock position houses the 30-minute chronograph counter. The skeletonized central hour and minute hands and applied baton-shaped indices are made from rose gold and filled with White Super-LumiNova for optimal legibility. Applied numerals in the distinctive Bell & Ross typography accompany the index at 12 and 6. The central chronograph seconds hand is gilded; a date window at 4:30 completes the functional ensemble.
Like its counterparts in the BR 05 series, the Chrono Grey Steel & Gold is powered by the BR-CAL.326 self-winding movement based on the Sellita SW510. Operating at 28,800 vibrations/hour, it offers an impressive 60-hour power reserve, guaranteeing stability and precision. The finely skeletonized whole disc rotor, visible through the sapphire glass caseback, is a distinctive hallmark of Bell & Ross’s automatic movements.
The rose gold and steel bracelet integrates seamlessly with the case, creating a cohesive aesthetic. A black rubber strap can replace the bracelet for a different look, bringing out the watch’s sporty character. The new Bell & Ross BR05 Chrono Grey Steel & Gold is available to purchase; the price remains to be confirmed. For more, visit www.bellross.com.
