Since its debut, the Angles collection has been the cornerstone of Beda’a. Instantly recognisable with its octagonal bezel set upon a sharply angled case middle, the watch embodies geometric precision and refined minimalism. Its stepped layers are finished with alternating brushed and polished surfaces, giving the design an architectural presence that appeals to both men and women. The collection quickly became Beda’a’s best-seller, offered in versatile sizes and an array of quartz-powered models ranging from discreet steel references to brighter, fashion-forward executions. The quartz line had demonstrated the appeal of the design, but watch enthusiasts wanted a mechanical movement. Now, Beda’a delivers with the launch of the Angles Mecaline, a permanent addition to the catalogue.

The quartz Angles owed much of its appeal to its ultra-slim profile, and Sohaib Maghnam, Beda’a’s CEO and designer, insisted that the Mecaline preserve that. After 15 months of fine adjustments, the result is a 37mm x 34mm stainless steel case with a thickness of just 6mm, only 0.7mm thicker than its quartz predecessor. The proportions are essentially unchanged, maintaining the same clean lines and unisex appeal that made the collection popular. The crown has been re-engineered for comfort and grip.

The bezel has been slimmed, the crystal and dial reworked, and a solid steel caseback introduced to avoid the added height of a sapphire exhibition back. The case feels every bit as sharp and contemporary as the original, but conceals the subtle depth of mechanical watchmaking within. Water-resistance is rated at 30m. The Angles dial has always exhibited pure surfaces, refined finishes, and nothing superfluous. For the Mecaline, that approach remains intact, with an addition of a small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock.

Two glossy dial colours launch the collection: black and taupe-grey. Each features a sector-style small seconds with either a semi-matte sunray or circular finish, creating a subtle play of textures against the lacquered surface. Dauphine hands complete the design, sharp and legible yet in keeping with the Angles’ minimalist ethos.

The Angles Mecaline relies on the ETA 7001 Peseux, one of the most time-tested hand-wound calibres in Swiss watchmaking. Slim and reliable, it beats at 21,600 vibrations/hour and provides a 42-hour power reserve. Known for its ease of maintenance, it is a pragmatic choice that ensures cost-effective ownership.

The Angles Mecaline is worn on supple Epsom leather straps in black or taupe-grey, colour-matched to the dial. The straps are hand-stitched and lined in leather, tapering to a polished steel pin buckle. The Beda’a Angles Mecaline is available immediately and becomes a permanent part of the portfolio.
