If you are into watches, the past few days have been packed with exciting news. With the digital edition of Watches & Wonders, close to 40 brands launched a slew of new models. Well, this is not over yet… 19 brands will now exhibit at the live Watches & Wonders Shanghai fair from April 14th to 18th. If Armin Strom was not part of the online Swiss event, the independent watchmaker will showcase its collections and a few novelties in Shanghai, including an exclusive limited edition of its resonance-based watch.
The Armin Strom Pure Resonance Sky Blue is an 18k white gold version of the already-existing model, now featuring hand-guilloché dials crafted by Kari Voutilainen. Their striking sky-blue colour is enhanced by a cold enamel glaze. The off-centred sub-dial displaying hours and minutes features Roman numerals while a classic railroad track marks the exact minutes. The smaller sub-dial at 7 o’clock displays seconds using only a baton-shaped hand and a simple track.
The watch comes in its pared-down “Pure Resonance” 42mm case featuring shorter lugs, a thinner bezel and the brand’s characteristic lip at 6 o’clock. The movement is the AFR16 standing out with its twin resonant oscillators. Armin Strom presented in 2016 one of the most spectacular applications of the surprising synchronization phenomenon known as resonance. The brand’s original solution consists of connecting two independent balance wheels by a patented steel spring attached to their stud to achieve enhanced precision and greater stability. The movement’s bridges are decorated with straight Geneva stripes.
A limited edition of three watches only, the Armin Strom Pure Resonance Sky Blue is worn on a black alligator strap. The price is set at CHF 74,000. For more information, please visit arminstrom.com.
