The New Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m Boutique-Exclusive Collection

Earthy tones for the new six model sub-collection of PO600m only available from the brand's boutiques.

First released in 2005 as a more powerful version of the Omega Seamaster, the Planet Ocean 600m has now become an entire collection with various complications, sizes and colours/materials – without even mentioning its bigger brother, the mighty PO 6000m. Discreetly released by Omega, six new references join the collection – three time-and-date 43.5mm and three chronographs 45.5mm – available exclusively from the brand’s boutiques. Executed in subdued earthy tones, these new Boutique-only Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m add elegance to this solid collection.

While the PO 600m collection is often characterised by its hallmark orange accents – the orange-coloured aluminium bezel was the signature element of the launch model in 2005 – Omega has recently decided to give it a more discreet attire, with various editions playing on monochromatic schemes or more subtle colours. Think, for instance, about the Deep Black collection or the recent Dark Grey GMT model with its technical grey ceramic case. And while there’s still the possibility to get this cool, emblematic orange look, more toned-down versions have just been added to the range.

Spread across the classic 43.5mm time-and-date and 45.5mm chronograph models, all executed in satin-finished stainless steel, these new references opt for earthy, natural tones. The first duo uses a so-called gunmetal colour scheme with a grey galvanic treatment on the sandblasted dial along with beige Super-LumiNova inserts on the PVD-coated steel hands and markers and beige or white transferred literature on the dial. The chronograph adds steel-toned sub-counters. This gunmetal look is complemented by a brushed black ceramic bezel ring with its diving scale in Liquidmetal – the same ceramic inserts are found on the chronograph’s pushers. Both are worn on an integrated dark grey rubber strap with a structured pattern and beige and dark grey stitching.

The next duo of Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m boutique editions have a silver-and-green colour scheme. The stainless steel dials are vertically brushed with multiple green accents. The time-and-date model uses this colour for the applied Arabic numerals, while the chronograph features green ceramic sub-dials. The dial has lines of text printed in green or black, with a silver-toned date disc and white Super-LumiNova inserts. Both watches feature a brushed green ceramic bezel ring with its diving scale in Liquidmetal and are worn on a green rubber strap with a structured pattern and light grey and green stitching.

There are also two beige Planet Ocean 600m models joining the collection as boutique-only models with bronze accents. The dial flaunts a sandblasted beige varnish and the chronograph adds bronze silicon nitride ceramic sub-dials. The markers, numerals and hands are PVD grey with a brushed finish and white SLN inserts. Contrasting transferred inscriptions in brown and black are found in both editions. The bezel is a new development for the brand, as it relies on an unprecedented bronze colour and uses a novel material: brushed silicon nitride ceramic. The diving scale is executed in liquid ceramic and Super-LumiNova and the watches are worn on a beige rubber strap with a structured pattern and white stitching.

About the watches, the time-and-date models measure 43.5mm in diameter, 16.2mm in height and 49.3mm in length. The chronograph versions are 45.5mm in diameter, 19mm in thickness and 52.3mm in length. All versions are equipped with sapphire crystals on both sides, a helium escape valve at 10 o’clock, a screw-down crown, a NAIAD LOCK caseback and a 600m water-resistance. The time-and-date models are powered by the in-house, automatic Master Chronometer calibre 8900 with 60h power reserve. The chronograph models rely on the integrated, in-house, automatic Master Chronometer calibre 9900 with 60h power reserve. A steel foldover clasp is delivered with all versions.

Available exclusively from the brand’s boutiques worldwide, these new Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m are priced at EUR 7,800 (grey and green 43.5mm time-and-date), EUR 8,300 (beige 43.5mm time-and-date), EUR 9,900 (grey and green 45.5mm chronograph) and EUR 10,700 (beige 45.5mm chronograph). 1. Always small detail marring perfection. Why on earth black date numerals on chronos instead of the color of dials, grey, green and beige???
