The Elegant Longines Flagship Heritage Moonphase 38.5mm
The new Flagship Heritage model exemplifies Longines' commitment to blending timeless design with contemporary craftsmanship.
The Longines Flagship collection, which first appeared in 1957, nowadays draws inspiration from the brand’s vintage models while incorporating adjustments to contemporary preferences and standards. Longines, established in 1832, is a highly esteemed watch brand renowned, among other things, for seamlessly blending classic and traditional aesthetics of older timepieces with modern watchmaking technology. This fusion is evident in the Flagship collection, particularly in the earlier Heritage with small seconds and date, which embodies the essence of the series. The new Flagship Heritage model, featuring a moonphase and date indicator, follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, paying homage to Longines’ innovative spirit in watchmaking. It flawlessly combines traditional design elements with modern sensibilities, ensuring its broad appeal.
The elegant new Longines Flagship Heritage Moonphase is housed in a 38.5mm round stainless steel case with 30m water resistance. The front of the case is adorned with a polished fixed bezel, while the rest of the watch showcases satin-brushed finishes. Its profile, measuring 12.40mm in thickness, gives it a refined aesthetic that suits most wrists. The chamfered straight shortened lugs extend from the rounded case, providing ergonomic comfort, and the winding crown is thoughtfully sized for easy operation. The watch is built with a sapphire crystal featuring multi-layered anti-reflective coating on both sides, ensuring clear visibility.
The screw-down caseback of the new Flagship Heritage model is solid stainless steel, embellished with a nice yellow gold insert with an embossed image of a ship on waves on a blue background, the emblem of the Flagship collection. The caseback is engraved with the model’s name, reference number, material, water resistance, and other relevant details.
While the case is handsome, the new Longines Flagship Heritage model’s main attraction is its engaging dial, which the brand offers in opaline or sunray silver and sunray blue finish. All variants feature a straightforward yet clever layout that is easily read, adorned with triangular gilt or silvered applied indices, gilt or silvered polished dauphine hands, with a moonphase display and date ring at 6 o’clock. The date is indicated by a small hand; the moonphase is executed traditionally, with the moon colour matching the indices depending on the reference. Although the moonphase is relatively small due to the watch’s diameter, it still possesses a notable presence. The hour and minute hands have a touch of Super-LumiNova.
Driving the new Longines Flagship Heritage Moonphase is a self-winding calibre L899.5 with central seconds, date and moonphase (ETA A31.L91 base). This silicon balance spring-equipped movement, anti-magnetic and also found in the Longines 1832 collection watches, beats 25,200 vibrations/hour and delivers up to 72 hours of power reserve.
The new Longines Flagship Heritage Moonpahase 38.5mm is paired with a brown, grey or blue alligator strap that measures 19mm wide, and the straps are closed with a new Heritage pin buckle. The price is EUR 3,250, and the watches are available to buy at authorized retailers. For more information, please visit www.longines.com.

A great looking watch with some excellent dimensions. At 3,250 euros though I do wonder who would buy this instead of spending a bit more on say a used JLC.
