New Sensations with Hublot’s new Big Bang Original Soft Touch Models

For over two decades, Hublot has embraced the ‘Art of Fusion’, blending unexpected materials like rubber, gold, ceramic, and sapphire into bold visual statements. The latest Big Bang Original Soft Touch pushes the boundaries even further, inviting us to experience how a watch feels. More than just a coating, Hublot has integrated a microscopic, textured rubber compound directly into the Big Bang’s physical architecture, turning its iconic design into a new soft, velvety sensory experience.

Designed to be seen and felt, the new Big Bang Original editions are crafted using an exclusive rubber compound. Rather than relying on a temporary surface spray or a coating that could degrade over time, Hublot has integrated the texture directly into the watch’s construction using a dedicated overmoulding process. Using custom-engineered tooling, the microscopically textured surface structure is composed of thousands of fine micro-elements, producing a soft, velvet-like effect on the case, bezel, dial and strap.

Silky smooth to the touch, the exclusive textured rubber compound is applied broadly across the exterior and interior of the 43mm titanium cases of the new models. Retaining its sporty 100m water-resistance and layered Big Bang construction with lateral bumpers and the 6 H-shaped titanium screws in the bezel, the rubber compound sheathes the case and caseback, the bezel, the screw-down crown, the rectangular pushers, the dial and the strap.

Available in All Red and All Black editions, the colours reference distinctive material and aesthetic innovations. The All Black harks back to Hublot’s 2006 monochromatic black model, while the All Red pays tribute to the brand’s mastery of vividly coloured high-tech ceramics, specifically the 2018 Red Ceramic watch.

The dial, also made with the rubber compound, features a racy, raised carbon-patterned print and the distinctive applied, stencil-like Arabic numerals of the original 2005 Big Bang, filled with luminescent material. The two sub-dials, with small seconds at 9 o’clock and the larger 60-minute chronograph register at 3 o’clock, are framed and snailed, and the date window is angled between 4 and 5 o’clock. Like the numerals, the hands feature luminescent inserts that match the colour scheme.

Powering the new watches is the HUB1280 Unico manufacture integrated flyback column-wheel chronograph. This 354-piece automatic movement has 43 jewels, a silicon escapement, beats at 28,800vph (4Hz) and offers a 72-hour power reserve.

Fitted with the brand’s patented One-Click system, the quick-release mechanism is integrated directly into the trapezoidal button on the top and bottom of the case. Using the newly developed compound, the velvety red or black rubber straps feature the classic lozenge pattern and a titanium deployant buckle.
