Glashütte Original Releases a Quartet of New Serenade Luna models

The ladies’ moon phase complication performs a delightful moonlight serenade.

The Lady Serenade and PanoMatic Luna are Glashütte Original’s mechanical watch collections for women. While the PanoMatic Luna is essentially a smaller version of the men’s model, the Lady Serenade collection was conceived as a ladies’ watch from the start. Last year, the Lady Serenade was given a moonlight serenade with the incorporation of a moon phase display and a new in-house movement. Expanding the Serenade Luna line, the brand introduces four new models in red gold and bi-colour gold and steel cases.

The proportions of the Serenade Luna, with its 32.5mm diameter and slim height of 8.9mm, are designed for small wrists. Available in luxurious red gold cases with 48 brilliant-cut diamonds set in the bezel, the new Serenade Luna is also offered in steel cases with red gold bezels with or without diamonds. Polished throughout, all four models feature a rose-cut diamond set in the red gold blossom-shaped crown.

Mother-of-pearl, characterised by its soft play of iridescent rainbow colours, is the dial material of three Serenade Luna models and plays a starring role in the moon phase display at 6 o’clock. Well-suited to capturing the subtle glow of our neighbouring satellite, white mother-of-pearl is used inside the recessed disc to represent the Moon, while the night sky is depicted with inlays of darker Tahitian mother-of-pearl and enhanced with gold stars. Varying slightly, the red gold model with a blue sunray-brushed dial features a light blue starry sky achieved by painting a layer of blue lacquer beneath the mother-of-pearl.

Other features common to all the new Serenade Luna models are the chapter ring bearing the red gold diamond-set indices and the slight indentation separating it from the centre of the dial. Set with 20 brilliant-cut diamonds, the indices taper in size at the bottom to accommodate the moon phase display with its crescent-shaped structure set with gold stars. The elegant leaf-shaped hands are crafted in red gold and accompanied by a central seconds hand with an infinity-shaped counterweight.

The quartet of Serenada Luna models is powered by the automatic in-house calibre 35-14 with integrated moon phases. Fitted with a silicon hairspring, the 4Hz movement is resistant to magnetic fields and temperature fluctuations, delivering a surprisingly robust – and practical – 60-hour power reserve. The solid red gold rotor, decorated with a shell pattern, reveals the signature Glashütte three-quarter plate featuring a striped finish and other refined decorative touches.

All the new models are paired with alligator straps in a variety of colours and a double-folding clasp; the two steel models can also be acquired with a steel bracelet. The two-tone steel and red gold model without diamonds on the bezel retails for EUR 14,700. The two-tone steel and red gold reference with a diamond-set bezel retails for EUR 18,300. The red gold model with a white mother-of-pearl dial has a retail price of EUR 24,900, and the red gold model with a blue dial retails for EUR 24,400.

  1. While I really like GO and I am generally hard pressed to find more interesting watches, the lady models leave me cold. Two ideas: leave out those stones; make me a steel release of your splendid chronometer (the one that resets the second hand and aligns the minutes hand whenever I pull out the crown).

  2. I like GO a lot but somehow ladies’ models looks kinda like mall watch to me in terms of design. and I am a lady who loves diamonds and MOP. This is just not the right design somehow…
