Glashütte Original Unveils the New Senator Aventurine Collection
Shimmering aventurine glass dials reveal the Senator's more artistic temperament.
Glashütte Original’s Senator collection is largely defined by classic German watchmaking conventions and the brand’s signature Panorama Date. However, the manufacture has also used the Senator to showcase its more artistic side, with hand-painted Meissen porcelain dials. Joining the brand’s Atelier commissions is a new time-only duo of Senator models in precious metal cases with shimmering aventurine glass dials.
To keep the dial as clean and minimalist as possible, the new Senator Aventurine models strip away all complications and reduce the functions to hours and minutes. With no indices, date or central seconds, a specific calibre was developed for these artistic models. A variant of the brand’s foundational automatic calibre 36, introduced in 2016, the 36-16 benefits from the anti-magnetic silicon hairspring and the original’s impressive 100-hour power reserve.
The new watches are presented in luxurious red gold or platinum cases with a 40mm diameter, a thickness of 10.2mm and a balanced lug-to-lug of 47.09mm. Decorated with alternating polished finishes on the bezel and lugs and a satin-brushed finish along the case flanks, the 50m splash-resistant case has a domed sapphire crystal over the dial and a flat sapphire crystal on the caseback.
While the Meissen editions flaunt hand-painted porcelain dials, the Senator Aventurine models feature scintillating aventurine glass dials. Inspired by Art Nouveau’s reverence for nature and flowing organic forms, the warm red gold model is paired with a deep green aventurine dial. The blue aventurine dial on the platinum model takes its cooler palette from the Art Deco era. To intensify the depth of the dial, the reverse side of the disc is coated in black lacquer. As mentioned, the dials lack indices and indicate time with elegantly curved, solid gold, pear-shaped hands – white gold for the platinum, red gold for the red gold case. The only inscriptions – Glashütte Original and Glashütte i/SA – are printed in glossy white.
Visible on the reverse side of the case, the manufacture calibre 36-16 is assembled from start to finish by a single watchmaker. Configured for a two-hand display, the automatic movement reveals refined finishes, including signature Glashütte stripes on the ¾ plate, the hand-engraved balance cock, sunburst finishing on the winding wheels, and the brand’s double-G skeletonised rotor with a solid gold mass.
The Senator Aventurine Art Deco Blue platinum model is paired with a dark blue alligator strap, while the Senator Aventurine Art Nouveau Green comes on a brown alligator strap. The new Senator Aventurine models will be available from October 2026 at all Glashütte Original boutiques and selected retailers worldwide. Prices to be confirmed.
