The New Girard-Perregaux Laureato Skeleton Aston Martin in Black Ceramic
Sleek black ceramic bodywork, openworked engine and Aston Martin Green accents.

The symbiotic relationship between mechanical watches and motorsports shows no signs of waning. When Girard-Perregaux was in the hands of Italian CEO Luigi Macaluso, a former rally driver, the brand forged a partnership with Ferrari in 1994, lasting ten years. In 2021, with Patrick Pruniaux at the helm, Girard-Perregaux became the official watch partner of British performance car manufacturer Aston Martin. Using the chassis of the brand’s emblematic luxury sports watch, the latest Laureato Skeleton is a sleek, powerful-looking model in a black ceramic case and bracelet with an openworked movement and Aston Martin’s distinctive Racing Green accents.
Since the alliance was forged, GP has produced numerous Aston Martin editions. While chronographs are the obvious partner, GP has also injected Aston Martin’s racing spirit into classic models such as the Three Flying Bridges. Like F1 cars, materials are the name of the game, and the partnership has also resulted in titanium, green ceramic and carbon fibre Laureato models.
The all-black ceramic bodywork gives the watch a high-powered presence, and the dynamic finishes highlight the distinctive architecture of the Laureato case. Introduced in 1975, the Laureato was GP’s vision of a luxury sports watch with a fully integrated bracelet, a round dial, an octagonal bezel and a tonneau-shaped case. Based on the existing Laureato Skeleton, the new watch has a 42mm diameter, a thickness of 10.92mm and 100m water-resistance. Revealing a prevalence of brushed finishes, the circular base beneath the bezel and the central links of the bracelet stand out with their bright polished finishes.
Exposed on the dial and reverse side of the watch, the skeletonised GP01800 automatic calibre reveals components usually hidden from sight. Secured by a network of curvaceous anthracite openworked bridges, the mainspring is exposed dial-side at 6 o’clock along with the wheel train and a view of the 4Hz regulating organ at noon. The Racing Green hour markers are treated with green emission luminescent material, applied to the peripheral minutes flange and suspended over the movement. The hour and minute hands are also treated with green PVD and green emission lume. Not immediately apparent, there is a small green skeletonised running seconds hand at 10 o’clock.
The sapphire crystal on the caseback features a metallised Aston Martin logo and reveals the pink gold rotor treated with green PVD to match Aston Martin’s livery that delivers energy to the mainspring for the 54-hour power reserve. With 55 handcrafted internal angles, the anthracite mainplate and bridges are decorated with bevelling, sandblasting, traits-tirés and perlage.
The Girard-Perregaux Laureato Skeleton Aston Martin Edition is limited to 88 pieces and retails for EUR 57,200. More information at girard-perregaux.com.
