In the past few years, Union Glashütte, the sister brand of the more high-end Glashütte Original manufacture, has strongly focused on connecting its watches with car-related events and car-inspired designs. Take, for example, the Limited Edition Sachsen Classic 2025, the Noramis Date Deutschland Classic 2025 with an MB wheel-inspired design, or the BBS-styled Noramis Date Deutschland Klassik 2024. In this specific field, one of the most recognisable designs of the brand was based on the iconic 5-spoke Fuchs wheel shape. It’s back this year for the Petro Surf 2026, with a blackened attire.

Union Glashütte will be the official partner of the Petro Surf Festival 2026 on Sylt. Taking place from June 26 to 28, the festival merges air-cooled sports cars, Californian surf culture and a distinct urban lifestyle. As a result, the brand is releasing a new version based on its classic Noramis Date platform, with a dial that’s directly modelled after the Fuchs wheels that were mounted on early 911s, VW Beetles or beach buggies. And if this design looks familiar, it here adopts a new colour scheme that’s more “outlaw” than before.

The base is well-known, being shared with multiple previous limited editions and with a collection available permanently. Elegantly designed without being too dressy, this collection is a cornerstone for the brand. Measuring 40mm in diameter with a reasonable thickness just above 10mm, the steel case is entirely polished with a raised bezel and a box-shaped sapphire crystal, giving it a slender profile. This Limited Edition Petro Surf 2026 comes on a black leather strap with a double-folding clasp.

The most striking element of this version is its dial, which many of you can recognise as a reproduction of the classic 5-spoke Fuchs wheel. Compared to the Deutschland Klassik 2023 edition, using the same design, the background retains its matte black tone while the spokes, with a black PVD coating, emerge as a striking three-dimensional structure from the dial surface. The dial also includes screw details that recall wheel nuts and two-tone hands. A date window with a black disc sits at 6 o’clock.

Inside the case is the Calibre UNG-07.S1, a modified ETA 2892 base. This automatic movement is equipped with a magnetic-resistant silicon balance spring, with a modified frequency of 3.5Hz, ensuring a comfortable 60-hour power reserve.

A limited edition of 200 pieces, the Union Glashütte Noramis Date Limited Edition Petro Surf 2026 will be available for EUR 2,780. For more details, please visit www.union-glashuette.com.
